Our Science, Technology, and Medical, Journals division manages an extensive collection of high impact scientific journals. We take ownership for the reputation of our journals to authors and the quality of the content we publish. We are a team of over 80 globally based marketing professionals that collaborate with our organisation to identify opportunities and deliver successful marketing strategies.

The STM Journals email marketing operations team supports the set up and deployment of data driven email campaigns, focused mainly on content acquisition and journal author enablement, accelerating highly cited open access and subscription growth.

About the Role

We are seeking a Paid Social Media Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, managing and optimizing paid social media campaigns for our journals across multiple platforms, with a primary focus on LinkedIn Ads and Meta Ads (Facebook & Instagram). You will ensure that campaigns are carried out based on the briefs received and will use insights to propose improvements and deliver optimizations. The specialist is also responsible for curating and posting organic content based on MCM briefing.

The Paid Social Media Specialist plays a crucial role in driving traffic, engagement, and achieving our marketing goals.

This role reports directly to the Head of E-Marketing in STMJ, with a secondary reporting relationship with the Channel Manager for Paid Ads and Social, to ensure alignment between strategy and operations.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and execute paid advertising campaigns across LinkedIn and Meta platforms. Oversee and manage new paid social media campaigns and support the creation of paid social media marketing initiatives.
  • Based on MCM briefing, curate and post organic content into the relevant social media channels.
  • Select audience targeting and designing creative assets while providing creative copy suggestions with the help of AI tools.
  • Manage campaign budgets effectively and optimize for key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Analyze campaign performance data and provide regular reports with actionable insights.
  • Evaluate campaign results and performance across major social media channels, monitoring and administering web analytics (Adobe Analytics) dashboards, reports, and key reporting tools.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest industry trends and best practices in paid advertising.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure campaigns align with overall marketing strategies.
  • Communicate project development, timelines, results, and dependencies to stakeholders, team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or a related field.
  • Relevant work experience, preferably in the publishing industry. Proven experience managing paid advertising campaigns on LinkedIn Ads and Meta Ads. Certifications in LinkedIn Ads or Meta Ads are a plus but not required.
  • Ability to deliver insightful campaign performance reports. Experience with campaign tracking and reporting tools (Sprinklr). Experience with Adobe Analytics and Sprinklr is a plus.
  • Confident in effectively dealing with internal stakeholders. A confident, common-sense approach to problem-solving, with a quick understanding of what is required to resolve issues. Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing concepts and best practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A positive, enthusiastic, and proactive approach to daily responsibilities. Strong ability to organize and prioritize workload, demonstrating competency in multitasking.
  • Understanding of the publishing industry and dynamics is a plus.
