Associate Editor, FanSided Region Network

Description

FanSided is one of the fastest growing networks of fandom-focused sports, entertainment and lifestyle sites on the internet. FanSided consists of a thriving collection of more than 300 communities dedicated to bringing together fans to share their common passions.

As an associate editor on the regional network team, you’ll be responsible for assisting in the execution of our editorial vision which involves: Writing knowledgeably about all major sports, producing opinion pieces and analysis that resonate with diehard fans of specific teams, and using breaking news and trending topics to ideate content that drives readership. Articles will range from 350-1000 words depending on the type of article and can cover all major sports across multiple regions.

A typical day involves

• Brainstorming content ideas for multiple websites
• Writing and editing 8-10+ pieces of content 
• Monitoring social media to ideate content around breaking news/rumors

The expected salary range for this position is between $50,000 and $55,000. Actual pay will be determined based on skills, experience, and location. [If eligible for bonus/commission] This position is also eligible for performance-based compensation. The benefits available for this position include flexible vacation policy, 15 paid holidays, paid parental leave, health insurance, 401(k) with company match.

Requirements

• 1-2 years of sports writing and editing experience
• Ability to quickly produce clean and interesting analysis on a variety of trending/viral topics
• Ability to support arguments with stats and facts, not just opinion
• Passion for and strong knowledge of major US professional sports
• Ability to ideate engaging content that drives readership 
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, adapting to changing priorities
• Motivated and proactive team player
• Flexible schedule with availability for evenings, weekends and holidays
