Job description

VicRoads RLS, founded in August 2022 by a consortium of Aware Super, Australian Retirement Trust, Macquarie Asset Management, and the Victorian State Government, operates under a long term concession deed issued by the State Government. We work collaboratively with the Victorian State Government to ensure we fulfil regulatory requirements, deliver State projects and safeguard customer data. The Victorian State Government retains sole responsibility for road access, infrastructure and safety 

  • Annual Salary Range:  Commensurate with Experience $95,000 – 105,000
  • Employment Type: Full Time – Ongoing
  • Usual Work Location: 180 Lonsdale Street/ Work from home (flexible working arrangement)

About the Opportunity

Join VicRoads as a Commercial Analyst and play a key role in shaping the future of Victoria’s transport services. Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, you will influence budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, and performance reporting, while collaborating with sales, marketing, finance, and product teams. You’ll support new growth opportunities, develop business cases, and prepare presentations for leadership and stakeholders. This fast-paced, high-impact role requires strong commercial acumen, analytical expertise, and exceptional communication skills.

About you

The skills and experience required in the position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Minimum of 4 years post-graduate experience in commercial, finance, or analytical roles, focusing on financial management and data-driven decision-making.
  • Proven experience in financial budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, utilizing advanced Excel and statistical modelling techniques.
  • Expertise in developing performance reporting frameworks, dashboards, and insights, particularly in commercial, sales, product, and financial domains.
  • Strong ability to collaborate across functions, including Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Product teams, ensuring consistency and alignment of reporting and insights.
  • Excellent ability to distil complex financial concepts into clear and compelling narratives for executive teams, board members, and external partners.
  • Outstanding understanding of financial performance drivers, with a strong track record of working in complex operational environments and contributing to strategic decision-making.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate high levels of ambiguity, especially in environments undergoing regulatory changes or transformation.
  • Familiarity with automotive industry segments such as dealerships, finance/insurance, or OEMs, providing relevant insights for the role.
