The Enterprise Architects (EAs) operate within the CTO team taking primary responsibility for the creation and communication of mid-long term technology strategy, target architectures, capability assessments and roadmaps which feed enterprise strategy and propel technology delivery.
The EAs take responsibility for setting out key principles and strategic measurements for the change portfolio to ensure strategic alignment. Whilst also remaining pragmatic and focus on business value particularly during key stakeholder engagement and when participating in governance.
The EAs will be required to collaborate with senior leaders, change leadership and fellow architects, to ensure cohesive roadmap alignment, optimal use of Admiral assets and well-considered purchasing decisions.
Main Duties
Build long-term, strategic relationships with senior stakeholders to maintain alignment of technology and business strategies, assessment of capabilities to realise our goals
Work with senior management to review the effectiveness of current capabilities & strategies in support of business objectives
Identity, create and communicate capability-level strategies in support of the business strategy and technical capability plans
Provide technology support in building a multi-year business capability investment plan
Research, create and communicate reports, strategies and industry insights about emerging technologies, products, services, methods and techniques and their potential impacts, threats, and opportunities
Provide support, strategic guidance to change initiatives by principally fostering positive engaging relationships with CTO architecture communities
Develop and maintain knowledge of at least one technical specialism at a high level by, for example, reading relevant literature, attending conferences and seminars, meeting and maintaining contact with others involved in that technical specialism, and through taking an active part in appropriate professional and trade bodie
Promote at least one technical specialism within Admiral and closely associated organisations such as partners, and actively campaigns for appropriate action
Write, or contributes to, articles, and papers and speaks at conferences, user groups, or specialist subject groups on topics involving at least one technical specialism. Plays a leading role in special interest groups concerned with that technical specialism

Essential Experience
Has recognised expertise in at least one technical specialism, the technology involved, current developments, the most commonly available products, and the application of the specialism within a technical or business environment
Keeping organisational objectives and strategies in mind and ensuring courses of action are aligned with the strategic context
Understanding commercial considerations and ensuring alignment with them when making decisions or recommending actions.
Being proactive, anticipating opportunities for improvement or development and taking appropriate action(s)
Taking innovative approaches to problem solving and/or devising inventive and creative solutions
Desirable Experience
Combines technical competence with business and commercial awareness and first-class communications skills. Possesses some knowledge of all types of information systems and detailed knowledge of more than one type
Previous experience operating in a heavily regulated environment including external regulated consumer products and service offerings
Current and emerging standards associated with IT practice nationally and internationally, published by authorities such as IEEE, IEC, BSI, ISO
Principles, methods, techniques and tools for the preparation and monitoring of budgets to manage costs and ensure cost-effectiveness and value for money
Methods and techniques for delivering effective presentations, either face-to-face or online within various contexts and to a variety of audiences
Organisational structures; their mission, objectives, strategies and tactics adopted by organisations; measures of performance such as critical success factors and key performance indicators; organisational cultures and cultural dimensions
Methods, tools and techniques to analyse and optimise processes in order to improve the quality of a product or service
Applying techniques that help investigating, analysing, modelling and recording a business area or system of interest, leveraging Admiral’s investment in architecture tooling
The analytical comparison of technology options against specified criteria (including costs) to determine the right outcome for Admiral
Performing a proof of concept or prototyping exercise to demonstrate or evaluate the feasibility and potential benefits of applying a particular technological business change in order to meet a business need
