Ochsner Health is seeking a Pathologist for our community pathology group with a primary location in our Baton Rouge region.  Applicants should be board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and have experience in diagnostic surgical pathology as well as experience or interest in cytopathology, GYN, GU, or Breast pathology. The available position is based in the community hospital group within Ochsner health System in the greater Baton Rouge, Louisiana region.

Currently, the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine consists of 37 pathologist and two PhD's.  The Community group is made up of 11 pathologists who currently staff 5 hospitals within the greater New Orleans Area.  Our entire pathologist group and provides expertise with subspecialty training and interest in dermatopathology, breast pathology, GYN pathology, pediatric pathology, neuropathology, soft tissue pathology, thoracic pathology, transplant pathology, GU and GI pathology as well as cytopathology.  There are additional clinical pathologists with expertise in transfusion medicine/HLA, hematopathology, microbiology and clinical chemistry. The Ochsner health system currently processes over 75,000 surgical cases and 50,000 cytology cases annually.  There is a vast spectrum of cases, with a wide range of complexity.  The department supports a solid organ transplantation program and comprehensive oncology services, including a state-of-the-art breast cancer center and a bone marrow transplant program. As Ochsner Medical Center is an academic institution, the Department supports the academic initiatives of the organization, and serves as an affiliate training site for 2 local accredited pathology training programs as well as rotating medical students and rotating pathologist assistant students.

The Baton Rouge region offers a family-oriented community with the additional amenities of New Orleans just over 1 hour away.   Louisiana is known for the many festivals, parks, and community events throughout the year.
