About the Role
Designed Conveyor Systems (DCS) is looking for entry-level engineers to join our growing engineering team, committed to delivering the best customer and employee experience in our fast-paced industry! Our engineers work on projects with leaders in warehouse automation, parcel shipping, and e-commerce.
When you join our team as an Engineering Development Program (EDP) Engineer, you'll participate in a 6-week training period consisting of 2 weeks in person and 4 week role specific training remotely, where you'll learn about conveyor, material handling, and the roles of Applications, Project, Product Development, Parcel Mechanical and Distribution & Fulfillment (D&F) Mechanical Engineers. At the conclusion of the training, you'll be placed with one of those five teams, ready to make an immediate impact! We’ll appreciate your solutions-oriented approach, your solid technical know-how, your impressive teamwork skills, and the way we can count on you to get things done - and get them done well.
Parcel or D&F Mechanical Engineer
As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll apply your knowledge of engineering principles and materials to detail all aspects of material handling systems. Between Parcel bulk handling or D&F singulated fulfilment, you will experience different customers and designs to master. You will be involved in design modifications, creation of final documents, and ordering equipment. You will be responsible for creating drawing sets that communicate the design to all stakeholders, including customers during firm engineering, building officials for permitting, and suppliers and subcontractors for their design and installation. You will contribute to a project team and report to an engineering manager. We’ll appreciate your methodical approach, solid technical know-how, and attention to detail in your work.
Applications Engineer
As an Applications Engineer at DCS, you will be responsible for specifying the equipment for material handling designs that meets a client’s needs. In this position, you will use your knowledge and experience in material handling to turn a concept into a working system by collaborating with Sales, Systems Engineers, Estimators, and project teams. You will report to the Applications Engineering Manager but may also lead a team on individual opportunities.
Project Engineer
As a Project Engineer, you’ll manage all aspects of engineering on a project, leading the engineering project team to ensure our engineering deliverables meet requirements and are completed on time and on budget. And when your projects call for it, you’ll lead and mentor other members of our Engineering and Purchasing teams. You will participate as a member of a project team comprised of Project Managers, Buyers, Customer Service, & others in order to successfully complete conveyor & material handling projects. You Own and manage all engineering-related tasks on a project, including maintaining engineering schedules, budgets, & tracking engineering change orders. You will also interact with customers, vendors, and other suppliers to review & evaluate system & equipment designs.
Product Design Engineer
As a Product Design Engineer, you’ll be designing maintenance platforms from customer layouts and the occasional steel structure for major conveyor systems. You will work closely with Mechanical Engineers to ensure that your designs meet customer-specific needs, create detailed layout drawings, complete with a Bill of Materials for the platforms, and then share them with internal and external clients for approval, you will also provide the necessary information for orders. Not only that - you’ll also get to design “one-off” equipment (i.e. a custom chute) or standard parts (i.e. conveyor hanger steel) and collaborate with Engineers to determine the best design practices. You’ll utilize both 2D and 3D software as a tool to be the creative force behind generating drawings, Bills of Materials, and other information that’s needed for ordering.
We’re excited about you because…
- You have BS in a technical discipline (ME, EE, other engineering/CAD) or 1-2 years of equivalent experience.
- You have a solid knowledge of drafting & design standards.
- You’re interested in learning more about material handling systems and designing them.
- You’re eager to learn and willing to jump right in to get the job done.
- You’re flexible and able to transition between several projects.
- You are willing to ask questions and make progress on any assignment given
- You understand that the details make the big picture work and like working in the details.
- You’re more excited about the success of your team than your own personal success.
