Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is hiring a Payroll Services Manager on a temporary basis (up to 12 months) on our People and Culture team. This position is a remote opportunity and can be based across Western Canada. __

What you’ll do: - Be responsible for leading and overseeing the payroll function, which also includes managing the compliance requirements of the annual payroll cycle, and delivering clear and reliable payroll information. - Lead the implementation of changes to leading-practice operations, ensure new controls are in place when required, and payroll reporting is in compliance with corporate policies, union contracts, labour laws and payroll and pension legislation. - Monitor, analyze, and implement legislative changes within the organization. - Provide subject matter expertise to the HR Systems team to resolve any payroll related system errors that may have impact on day-to-day payroll operations. - Ensure a high standard of customer support is provided by evolving the payroll team’s Service Level Agreements (SLAs) based on customer feedback, handling of escalated inquiries, monitoring performance, and coaching the team. - Direct the Payroll team regarding proper payroll procedure, changes to accounting systems, new and existing programs, and procedural changes. - Actively communicate with internal Corporate and local Co-op Accounting, Audit, and Tax to review cross-departmental impacts and general ledger reconciles data sharing. - Provide direction and respond to escalated enquiries from payroll team, employees and managers regarding payroll issues, union and non-union benefits and pension enrolment, eligibility, and termination. - Oversee the maintenance of payroll records, payroll processing, general ledger reconciliations, payroll tax reporting, benefit program deductions, union dues deductions, vacation allocation rates and remittances of all deductions withheld in accordance with provincial and federal laws and regulations. - Work with the IT team in the maintenance of the payroll program to ensure integrity of payroll data. - Ensure government taxation rates, benefit premium rates and provincial minimum wage rates are updated in the payroll system as required. - Identify program requirements and request modifications to improve functionality and ensure compliance with ever changing provincial and federal payroll legislation.

Who you are:You are looking for a career in Payroll Services and: - Have 8+ years of experience within accounting and/or payroll out of which 5+ years include people management. - Have a diploma in Business or Accounting. - Professional Accounting Designation (CMA, CGA, CA) or Certified Payroll Manager (CPM), or Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) required. - Familiarity with Oracle Human Capital Management (HCM) and UKG Dimensions is considered an asset. - Are a leader focused on ensuring a high standard of customer support is provided. - Are results oriented and strive for excellence and continuous improvement. - You believe in collaboration, building relationships and value the perspectives of others.
