EPAM Systems is seeking a Principal Enterprise Architect to join our growing team in Toronto. In this role, you'll play a pivotal part in shaping technology strategies for industry-leading clients, ensuring alignment between business goals and cutting-edge technology solutions. We’re looking for someone who blends deep technical expertise with strong consultative capabilities, particularly in Retail Systems and Enterprise Architecture. Responsibilities


  • Serve as a thought leader in defining architectural vision and roadmaps for complex, enterprise-scale retail solutions
  • Maintain a strong understanding of evolving retail industry trends, tools, and best practices
  • Design and implement large-scale retail architectures using modern technology stacks and platforms
  • Guide end-to-end product and pricing solutions, including Merchandising, PIM, MDM (e.g., Stibo, Informatica), and DAM systems
  • Evaluate, customize, and implement commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) retail systems to meet business needs and integrate with existing infrastructure
  • Develop comprehensive architecture documentation and ensure alignment with enterprise standards
  • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to define solution requirements, use cases, and future-state architectures
  • Conduct architecture reviews, audits, and deliver actionable findings
  • Lead solution implementation efforts from requirements gathering through to deployment and go-live
  • Drive pre-sales initiatives: craft proposals, respond to RFPs, present architecture solutions, and facilitate client workshops
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients throughout the architecture lifecycle
  • Commit to continuous learning and maintain expertise in emerging technologies and architectural methodologies
  • Mentor and support the development of junior architects and consulting teams


Requirements


  • 15+ years in IT architecture, including 5+ years in an enterprise/principal architect role
  • Proven background in technology consulting or IT services, particularly within Retail or CPG sectors
  • 10+ years of leadership experience managing teams in complex project environments
  • Deep domain knowledge of big-box retail ecosystems including store operations, digital channels, warehousing, supply chain, and corporate systems
  • Experience leading architectural efforts that ensure alignment with organizational goals
  • Experience leading efforts to regulate the overall technology ecosystem to increase flexibility and optimize business value
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and deploying retail systems: Point-of-Sale (POS), Merchandising & Assortment Planning, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Master Data Management (MDM), Product Information Management (PIM), Digital Asset Management (DAM), Product Content Management, Store infrastructure, and edge technologies
  • Solid understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman)
  • Ability to define and manage retail application architecture blueprints that span legacy and modern technologies
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise COTS retail platforms such as Stibo, Manhattan Associates, Blue Yonder, or Salesforce Commerce Cloud
  • Hands-on experience with ERP implementations in retail
  • Expertise in retail data domains and modeling (e.g., product, pricing, promotion, inventory, store operations)
  • Deep experience with full software development lifecycles, including Agile/SCRUM and RUP methodologies
  • Data-driven decision-maker with the ability to bridge business objectives with technical solutions
  • 4 days on-site

This posting includes a base salary range EPAM Canada would reasonably expect to pay the selected candidate. Individual compensation offers within the range are based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, experience, credentials, education, training, the demand for the role, skillset, and overall business and local labour market considerations. Most candidates are hired at a salary within the range disclosed. Salary range: CA$200,000 - CA$250,000.
