This is a remote position.
We’re seeking an experienced, product-oriented Director of Data to define and implement the data strategy for a B2C gaming rewards platform. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on transforming the siloed data function into a high-impact, product-led team that empowers rapid, data-driven decision-making across the business.
You’ll lead, grow, and structure a team of 6+ across data analytics, engineering, and science, with a mandate to build tools—not just dashboards—that accelerate insights for stakeholders in performance marketing, product, engineering, monetization, and leadership.
Enable stakeholders to make data-informed decisions faster and more confidently.
Define a company-wide data strategy tied to core KPIs and stakeholder needs.
Unify a fragmented, siloed data team and instill product thinking across roles.
Support performance marketing by building predictive tools (e.g. LTV, ROAS modeling).
Drive experimentation culture across the business using robust analytical frameworks.
Foster cross-functional alignment between the platform and the game ecosystem through integrated data insights.
Transform the existing 6-person data team from a reactive service function into a proactive, product-led team.
Establish and scale the three branches: Data Analytics, Data Engineering, Data Science.
Begin building internal data tools that help stakeholders self-serve insights and reduce reporting bottlenecks.
Work closely with the user acquisition and monetization teams to deliver meaningful models and decision support tools.
Develop initial predictive models for LTV, churn, and ROAS.
Lay the foundation for a company-wide experimentation process.
Establish quality and engineering standards in data workflows, including version control, testing, and documentation.
10+ years in data-focused roles, with at least 3-5 years in leadership roles.
Proven success leading cross-functional data teams in a B2C product environment.
Experience with performance marketing-driven products (e.g. mobile apps, gaming, consumer tech).
Deep knowledge of predictive modeling for business KPIs: LTV, ROAS, churn, retention.
Experience implementing and scaling experimentation frameworks (A/B testing, holdouts, etc.).
Strong working knowledge of Google Cloud Platform and tools like BigQuery, Looker, etc.
Proficiency in SQL and Python (you don’t need to code daily, but must guide technically).
Demonstrated ability to build scalable internal tools that empower stakeholders.
Hands-on, pragmatic leader who steps in to guide and support - not micromanage.
Builder mindset: excited to shape a team and infrastructure nearly from scratch.
Strong communicator who can simplify complex ideas and rally stakeholders.
High standards for execution quality, paired with a bias for action.
Comfortable with ambiguity and non-linear org structures—thrives in “start-up within a scale-up” dynamics.
Initial call with hiring manager (Director or C-Level) – team vision, candidate expectations.
Call with co-founder – strategic vision and stakeholder alignment.
Team interviews – meet data analyst, scientist, engineer.
Case Study Presentation – showcase your approach to building a high-performing data org.
You’ll shape the data foundation of a fast-growing consumer platform with global reach.
You’ll own a strategic function that influences product, marketing, monetization, and leadership.
You’ll work in a flat, lean, high-agency culture with minimal bureaucracy and maximum autonomy.
You’ll have the rare opportunity to build the kind of data org you’ve always wanted to work in.
