About the Role

Harman Professional Solutions is seeking an entry level mechanical engineer for electronics packaging projects of audio and video equipment.

The candidate would support a collaborative team working on new product design, testing, and validation of new products as well as support of other projects as needed.

This is an opportunity for the candidate to work with a small, talented team in dense electronics packaging designed for indoor and outdoor environments.  Skills in mechanical design, DFM, thermal analysis and structural analysis will be areas of focus.  It is expected that the candidate will work on a wide range of tasks assisting the design team while have responsibility to drive projects from concept to production.

What You Will Do

New product design of cutting-edge audio electronics working within a cross-functional team in the design, analysis, and testing of mechanical systems and components.  Utilizing CAD software to create models, performing simulations, collaborating with domestic and international support teams, and gaining hands-on experience through prototyping and testing activities.  

  • Using SolidWorks to design, evaluate and document product components or lab test equipment.
  • Support team members in assembly and testing of new audio amplifier designs.
  • Participate in peer and design reviews of key elements of the system design.
  • Working with local team on procurement and management of BOM items as needed.
  • Complete design documentation release into Harman documentation system.
  • Conduct key thermal and structural analysis to ensure parts meet design intent.

What You Need to Be Successful

  • A recent graduate of an accredited mechanical engineering program.
  • Experience of 0 to 2 years in applicable mechanical design of electronics products experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills needed.
  • Individual who works well with others.  Strong interpersonal skills are needed while working with a variety of Harman team members.
  • Comfortable in building product in a lab environment.  Knowledge of basic hand tools.
  • Enjoys engineering problem solving.   Positive, can-do attitude.  Enjoys learning new skills.
  • Prefer experience with Solid Works MCAD tool, but other tools with similar parametric design accepted.

Bonus Points if You Have

  • Some experience with FEA and CFD.
  • Some experience with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Experience with electronics packaging for rack mounted equipment.

  • Ability to travel up to 5% domestically and internationally.
  • Successfully complete a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment

Salary Ranges:

$ 76,500 - $ 112,200
