JOB SUMMARY
Under the guidance of the VP of Development, and in collaboration with the Brand and Communications team, the Philanthropic Communications Specialist will advance Global Fund for Women’s mission by crafting clear, compelling communications that articulate the organization’s mission, vision, values, programs, expected outcomes, impacts, and financial needs while aligning with donor objectives. This role will present these elements through persuasive narratives that engage current and prospective donors, especially principal donors, major donors, mid-level donors, and annual fund donors, ensuring written materials reflect our goals and impact and align with donor interests.
This role will be a 6-month, part-time (20 - 25 hours per week) contract position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Write and edit powerful and compelling content with messaging tailored by current and prospective donor interests in line with Global Fund for Women’s priorities, voice, and brand guidelines, especially for principal donors, major donors, mid-level donors, and annual fund donors
- In collaboration with the Development Team and the Brand and Communications team, develop suites of philanthropic communications for donors at all levels, including:
- Cases for support
- Annual report
- Impact reports
- Direct mail pieces
- Email solicitations
- Donor talking points
- Other donor communication materials for cultivation and stewardship
- Collaborate with teams across the organization to develop creative ways to showcase impact and storytelling for donors
- Support the CEO and VP of Development in drafting key philanthropic communications for our closest donors
- Ensure that donor-related content is compelling and up-to-date on the organizational website
- Stay on top of philanthropic giving trends and world events to ensure that communications to donors are contextualized and meet the moment

KEY SKILLS / WAYS OF DOING
- Minimum of 7 years of professional experience writing, with at least 5 years of writing for donor audiences
- The highest level of verbal and written communication skills: can articulate complex themes for multiple donor audiences; able to present complex ideas and programs in a clear, compelling manner
- Ability to influence philanthropy and lead donor education efforts while bringing in and retaining donors
- Considerable knowledge of fundraising techniques and sources of funding
- Ability to handle multiple projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines
- Understand and embrace feminist, community-centric funding/fundraising principles
- Strong organizational skills
- Comfortable working in multi-cultural environments
- Entrepreneurial spirit, with the enthusiasm and energy to implement new strategies and meet ambitious goals.
