Job description

Secondment/Fixed Term Contract until 13 April 2026

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a small and developing team at the heart of the organisation. You will be involved in the delivery of the risk and business continuity framework, organisational policy management, annual planning processes and engagement with key external partners, including His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Police and Fire & Rescue Services. This role will put you at the centre of corporate decision-making and planning.

The confidence and ability to develop, coordinate and effectively deliver corporate governance policies and strategy is required, together with analytical skills and the ability to proactively maintain knowledge and awareness across a broad and diverse spectrum. The experience, confidence and credibility to communicate complex or specialist information to a non-specialist audience, facilitate workshops and deliver presentations is also expected. Previous experience in business planning or risk management within a large organisation would be beneficial.

If you are a permanent member of staff applying for this role, please note it will be offered on a secondment basis. Important: All secondments are assumed supported and that your line manager and Head of Department/Commander or Deputy are aware of your intention to apply. If the secondment is not supported then a strong business rationale must be sent to RecruitmentPoliceStaff@thamesvalley.police.uk quoting the reference number for the role.

Please note: Shift allowance, on-call or other job related allowances from the previous role will not be protected unless they are attached to the new role for the duration of the secondment.

As part of the Thames Valley Police family you will enjoy a fantastic range of benefits including 30 days annual leave per annum, pro-rata for part time (plus Bank Holidays), flexible working conditions, a wide range of lifestyle discounts, career development opportunities and have the option to join a local government pension scheme. For more information on our benefits, please visit the supporting you page, via the link at the bottom of the advert.

If you have any queries please contact the Recruitment Team at RecruitmentPoliceStaff@thamesvalley.police.uk quoting reference 22393. We will endeavour to respond to your query as quickly as possible.

Please use Google Chrome when completing your application, wherever possible, as this will enhance performance.

The closing date for enquiries and receipt of completed applications is Sunday 1 June 2025.
