POSITION SUMMARY

The Director- Business Development is responsible for directing and coordinating the promotion and management of the Company's products and/or services in the field by performing the following duties within their territory.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to)

  • Generate new business leads through prospecting, cold-calling, and face-to-face meetings. Utilize strong interpersonal skills when negotiating contracts and building long-term relationships with potential partners and customers.
  • Participate with other directors, senior directors, and/or the Vice President of Sales, EMEA, to establish strategic plans and objectives in the defined EMEA region.
  • Call on prospective accounts, provide technical and administrative product information, coordinate presentations, and support proposal generation. Prepare client-specific presentations and other data to respond to client needs.
  • Support management in determining service viability, including:
  • Working with internal teams to translate client needs and expectations into reality.
  • Developing industry knowledge and maintaining awareness of industry trends.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by management to adapt to business changes.
  • Function independently to influence the decision-making process of potential clients and develop strategies that anticipate client objections or ambivalence.
  • Ensure sales targets are achieved by maintaining sales networking and client development activities.
  • Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new offerings, delivery schedules, and merchandising techniques.
  • Maintain current and historical records by tracking potential customers and projects.
  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
  • Assist the VP of Business Development, EMEA, in identifying market potential by: Identifying client requirements; defining market share, competitor advantages, and weaknesses; forecasting projected business and establishing targeted company share.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by establishing personal networks and participating in relevant business and professional societies.
  • Engage in self-development activities and contribute to the training of others.
  • Exhibit safety awareness and adhere to safe work practices.
  • Perform other duties as may be reasonably assigned in the course of business.

  • Ability to interpret instructions provided in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Regularly required to sit, use hands to handle or feel, and communicate verbally.
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • BS/MS in a business or scientific discipline.
  • Understanding of the requirements and specifications in the logistics field.
  • Minimum of 7 years in sales or program management within the logistics/healthcare field.
  • Business background is a plus.
