The Chief of Staff is a high-visibility, strategic partner that supports the General Manager North America and senior leadership team by managing the team's priorities, overseeing staff/internal operations, and leading/project managing key initiatives. This role supports the GM North America with thought partnership and preparation and management of senior-level meetings based on goal attainment and thoughtful calendar management. The Chief of Staff helps develop the organizational and communication framework for staff, stakeholders, and leadership team members to implement the commercial vision and ensure the growth and success of the organization. 
 
As a member of the leadership team, this role requires you to be flexible and able to adapt to the changing needs of the organization, working together with the GM North America to drive continuous improvement in team collaboration, communication, and organizational maturity. This role is critical in anticipating issues, analyzing strategic, business, and operational challenges and opportunities, formulating solutions and ensuring key projects and initiatives are progressed quickly and to a high standard and striving to achieve: 

  • Focus CNALT efforts on top strategic, operational and performance drivers 
  • Data-driven decision-making; and 
  • Strong internal and cross-functional relationships and alignment with senior-level stakeholders 
  • Colleagues and stakeholders are informed, engaged and motivated 

Essential Functions of the job:  

  • Act as an advisor to and extension of the GM North America and Core North America LT (CNALT) and North America LT (NALT) 
  • Support the GM North America with thought partnership on key initiatives 
  • Ensure meeting agendas surface and progress critical business needs, drive strategy, and enable alignment and decision-making across the commercial and regional leadership teams 
  • Draft meeting minutes and track action items 
  • Create and support the development of compelling presentations for the GM North America across a range of topics including Board Meetings, internal business updates, Town Halls, and presentations to non-commercial functions  
  • Triage requests and act as a liaison between the GM North America, other executives, their LT’s, and stakeholders to ensure consistent communication and involvement or decision-making at the proper time 
  • Collaborate with executive-level management in the development of performance goals and long-term operational plans 
  • Listen for and identify connection points and opportunities for agreement across organizations to bring the right stakeholders to the table and drive a coordinated approach 
  • Anticipate, identify and then facilitate resolution of issues between departments and across functional lines pertaining to projects, strategic priorities and team dynamics 
  • Collaborate effectively with the Office of the CEO, Board, CMAC, GCMLT, GPTs, GHILT. GCSO, Global Medical, Investor Relations, Business Development, Manufacturing, and other LTs and Functions as needed. 
  • Support the communication and rollout of the Global Commercial & Medical LT, global commercial operations and shared service models to ensure market alignment, awareness and buy-in 
  • Drive consistent communication and collaboration within the LTs and across the organization 
  • Partner with corporate communications teams on delivering key messages 
  • Work with the leadership team and delegates to design and execute cultural initiatives and events to bring colleagues together, share priorities and updates, build common knowledge and celebrate successes 
  • Establish and maintain a work environment that supports learning, respect, open communication, collaboration, integration, and teamwork 
  • Oversee the design, organization and execution of leadership offsite events 
  • Ensure key CNALT activities and events include culture and team builders, focus on achieving long term and short term goals, advancement of key strategic initiatives, operational performance, process improvements, and colleague and organizational development 
  • Lead initiatives and continuous improvement related to business operations, including establishing best practices and assessing key performance metrics 
  • Partner with Finance in building business cases, budget planning and financial management 
  • Partner with the US and Canada organizations, HR, TA, IT, L&D to create and execute programs to support colleague engagement, development and professional growth and retention. 
  • Regularly review the annual CNALT cross-functional calendar to ensure proper trade-offs are made in the investment of GM North America and CNALT time and effort.  Ensure adequate lead time and capacity for high quality work related to core processes including LRP, Brand Plan, AOP, Board Meetings, CMAC, F1/2/3 Updates, GCMLT, GHILT, Congresses, Customer Engagement, National & Regional Meetings, QBRs, and Weekly and Quarterly CNALT meetings.  

Education Required:

Degree in science, business, engineering, or a related field and at least 10 years’ experience in biotech, pharmaceuticals or a related field preferred. Significant line management cross functional experience in Commercial operations (sales, training, sales management, marketing, market access) and project management and program management a must.  Experience in Global Commercial, Business Development, Medical or Alliance Management a plus. 
 
Experience leading strategic and operational initiatives in the pharmaceutical, biotech or related industry required

  • Strong project management skills - organized, disciplined, comfortable following up on actionable / holding people accountable, able to think ahead and catch problems before they arise 

Computer Skills:   Proficiency in the Microsoft suite of tools including O365, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and SharePoint Online; as well as project management applications such as Microsoft Project and Visio.

Salary Range: $189,300.00 - $259,300.00 annually

Packages may vary by location due to differences in the cost of labor. Non-Commercial roles are eligible to participate in the annual bonus plan, and Commercial roles are eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.
