The Technical Accounting Manager will be an integral member of our financial reporting team at Shake Shack and will report into the VP of Financial Reporting, Systems and Optimization. The Technical Accounting Manager is self-motivated, adaptive, can manage and prioritize an evolving workload. The ideal candidate will be an individual contributor who will be able to work well across functions and form relationships throughout the company to facilitate accounting involvement in processes and projects.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Track, research and analyze all emerging authoritative accounting literature and releases issued by the FASB and SEC.
  • Research new and existing accounting standards and provide interpretation and impact analysis on their potential effect on the business.
  • Lead the preparation of the statements of cash flows.
  • Document and communicate the accounting for transactions as a key resource to General Accounting.
  • Review the quarterly/annual external financial statements including note disclosures to ensure compliance with GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
  • Assist in preparation of Disclosure Committee and Audit Committee materials.
  • Assess and document the accounting implications of complex and non-routine transactions.
  • Develop accounting policies to ensure compliance with company policies, accounting literature and other regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare reports/analyses and participate in other projects as needed.
  • Lead SOX controls documentation and testing in responsible areas.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Experience & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in public accounting firm and/or public company
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • CPA required
  • Experience performing complex technical research and analysis
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting rules
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Self-starter who is comfortable working independently and as part of a team
  • Experience at Big 4 public accounting firm preferred
  • Experience in the restaurant and/or retail industries preferred

Pay Range - $116,784.00 - $153,264.00
