Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead the design and development of data integrations, strategically guiding our transition towards a real-time, event-based data pipeline in Microsoft Fabric.
  • Develop and maintain essential database objects within our data warehouse.
  • Proactively identify and resolve complex issues related to data integration, data quality, and data management incidents.
  • Research and champion opportunities for new data acquisition and innovative uses of existing data assets.
  • Integrate and optimize new data management technologies and software engineering tools within our existing infrastructure.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive data management documentation, including a robust data dictionary.
  • Recommend and implement strategies for continuous improvement in data reliability, efficiency, and overall quality.
  • Collaborate closely with data architects, modelers, and IT team members to align on project requirements and objectives.
  • Lead the revitalization of legacy services and architectures through strategic refactoring, migration, and the implementation of cloud-enabled distributed designs.
  • Contribute significantly to enhancing the development and operations of our increasingly distributed architecture.
  • Establish and help achieve critical backend and system SLOs to ensure scalability and resilience for future growth.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of proven experience in designing, building, and efficiently ingesting data into data warehouse systems.
  • 5 years of hands-on experience working with diverse data pipelines, seamlessly integrating data from various sources into a data warehouse environment.
  • 3+ years of deep expertise with Microsoft Integration Services (SSIS).
  • 1+ years of practical experience with Python.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities You'll Bring:

  • Mastery of Data Integration: Ability to build new integrations from a wide array of data sources, including SQL, NoSQL, Files, and APIs.
  • SQL and ETL/ELT Expertise: Proficient in SQL and relational database concepts, with a strong understanding of advanced ETL/ELT processes and data transformation techniques.
  • Data Format Versatility: Experienced in handling structured and semi-structured data formats such as JSON, XML, CSV, and TXT, and skilled in managing data pipelines using SSIS or similar tools.
  • Batch Processing Power: Solid knowledge of batch data processing and executing batch transactions for DML operations in production settings.
  • Query Optimization Prowess: Skilled in query optimization, with the ability to interpret and leverage execution plans to significantly improve database performance.
  • Advanced SQL Acumen: Expertise in advanced SQL techniques, including window functions, CTEs, and performance tuning for both analytical and operational use cases.
  • Data Quality Champion: Proven ability to proactively identify and resolve data quality issues, including thorough troubleshooting, de-duplication, and ensuring consistency across multiple systems.
  • Independent and Collaborative: Comfortable working autonomously to tackle complex data engineering challenges while also collaborating effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Agile Adaptability: Experience thriving in a fast-paced Agile development environment, effectively balancing priorities and delivering impactful results.
