Position Overview?
Element is seeking a motivated Cybersecurity Intern to support our organization's implementation of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF). This 12-week internship provides hands-on experience in cybersecurity policy development, gap analysis, and control implementation . You will gain experience developing, improving and implementing security policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze current security systems and practices against NIST CSF requirements.
Develop gap analysis documentationPrioritize updates to security policies and procedures to align with NIST CSF.
Assist with the implementation of security controls based on framework requirements.
Develop automation for implemented security controls.
Create compliance tracking documentation.
Prepare executive summary reports on improvements and future roadmap.
Minimum Qualifications
Currently pursuing degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
A minimum of 2.5 GPA.
Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Detail-oriented with strong documentation skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Ability to work 10-20 hours a week.
Ability to pass a background check.
US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required.
Must reside in the Continental US, preferably within the state of Maryland.
