The Role The Director of Business Development is responsible for developing new partnerships, retail strategy and assessing acquisition opportunities for Quest’s Southeast Region which includes Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama and parts of Mississippi and Virginia. The position will report to the Executive Director, Patient Services and Emerging Market, SE Region and will work out of the Tampa, FL regional headquarters on a hybrid based (requiring 3 days on-site per week). Hospital Lab Acquisitions Identify and evaluate acquisition opportunities within the hospital lab sector. Conduct market research, due diligence, and financial assessments of potential targets. Lead negotiation, structuring, and integration planning for acquired labs. Build strong relationships with hospital executives and lab directors. Retail Pharmacy Partnerships Develop strategic partnerships with retail pharmacy chains to offer lab testing services, specimen collection, and co-branded health initiatives. Negotiate agreements that align with compliance and healthcare regulations. Collaborate with marketing and operations to implement joint initiatives and pilots. Academic & Research Collaboration Forge alliances with universities, medical schools, and research institutes. Create research partnership models that leverage lab resources for grants, publications, and clinical studies. Represent the company in academic conferences and consortiums to promote innovation. Strategic Planning & Execution Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with company goals. Track market trends and regulatory developments to inform business direction. Prepare business cases, presentations, and executive briefings for stakeholders. Required Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in business, Healthcare Administration, Life Sciences, or related field (MBA preferred). 5+ years of experience in business development, M&A, or strategic partnerships, ideally in the healthcare or lab services sector. Strong negotiation, financial modeling, and project management skills. Knowledge of regulatory and compliance considerations in clinical lab operations. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills. Prior involvement in healthcare/lab service acquisitions or partnership development. Familiarity with CLIA, HIPAA, and healthcare reimbursement models. Established network in healthcare, retail pharmacy, or academia.
