Job description

This assignment posting is for an Agency Worker opportunity with Dotdash Meredith.  The Agency Worker is paid by a staffing agency employer. Agency Workers will receive a W2 from the staffing agency reporting their earnings for tax purposes.

 

Motion Designer 

 

The People APP design team is seeking a Motion Designer. In this role, you will work closely with our Senior Creative Director and editorial leads to create animated content and video templates that will engage and delight our audience. You will also collaborate across teams, bridging the gap between Design and Video departments, to ensure a high standard for motion graphics.

 

The ideal candidate will combine extraordinary technical skills with a unique understanding of storytelling and superb design taste. This role will require flexibility and resourcefulness to merge a variety of assets into compelling animations, including: custom-shot video and photography, stock images, typography, and other design elements. This role will also require working with teams and collaborators of all skill levels.

 

Assignment Details: 

 

40 hours a week
Start date: 5/9/2025
End date: 3 months with potential to extend
Hourly Rate: $45 
Location: Remote - US

 

Assignment Responsibilities:

 

  • Deliver polished animations that surprise, delight, and engage users under tight deadlines.
  • Drive projects from concept to completion. Be the keeper of the original creative vision while collaborating with the Senior Creative Director and editorial stakeholders in the execution of the work across teams.
  • Take ownership of assigned design projects and follow established processes to ensure smooth delivery of creative assets. 
  • Work alongside the Senior Creative Director to set the People App’s overall look and feel, and ensure execution across teams is on brand.
  • Lead the creation of thoughtfully designed digital editorial content and motion templates that seamlessly integrate with the App’s UI.
  • Collaborate to create, maintain, and uphold motion guidelines for all brands.

  • Use requirements and stakeholder feedback to design premium visual assets, such as digital editorial motion designs and content templates, on an ongoing basis.

Collaborate with Editorial, Video, Product, UX teams
  • Teach digital producers how to use motion templates you have created as part of a larger design system.
  • Present design solutions and build consensus among a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Help build and maintain a happy and creative culture within the design team. 
  • Participate in brainstorming and critique sessions that foster big picture thinking while identifying opportunities to raise the bar on the details.

  • Keep project management tickets up to date, communicate progress, keep files organized, monitor communication from stakeholders, and meet deadlines.

Skills/Experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent education and experience
  • 5-7 years as a motion designer 
  • Strong motion graphics skills
  • Strong typography skills
  • Strong editorial design skills
  • Strong understanding of narrative/storytelling, tone, brand voice
  • Expert in Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Premiere, Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Proficient in Figma
  • Knowledge of video post-production practices: editing, audio, compositing, color correction
  • Publishing industry experience
