Job description

About Us:

Monarch is a powerful, all-in-one personal finance platform designed to help make the complexity of finances feel simple again. Since launching in 2021, we’ve become the top-recommended personal finance app by users and experts. Our goal? To take the stress out of finances so our members can focus on what truly matters.

We are a team of do-ers led by experienced entrepreneurs who are passionate about helping our members reach their financial goals. We are hyper focused on building a product people love and continuing to evolve based on user feedback.

As a fully remote company (even before COVID!), we welcome applicants from almost anywhere. Our team collaborates synchronously mostly from 9 AM – 2 PM PT and embraces asynchronous work to stay connected across time zones.

Join us on our mission to transform lives by simplifying money, together.

The Role:

We're hiring a People Business Partner to lead the programs that make Monarch a world-class place to grow and lead. This role will focus on manager enablement, learning & development, employee engagement, internal mobility, culture-building, and company-wide people programs.

You’ll work closely with department leaders, the broader People team, and the executive team to drive clarity, connection, and capability across the company. This is a high-impact, strategic and execution focused role with room to scale.

We are open to hiring this role at a senior or staff level based on experience.

What You’ll Do:

  • Talent Management & Performance

    • Coordinate feedback review cycles and manager calibration support

    • Build playbooks and templates for fair, transparent promotion practices

    • Partner with leaders to identify and track high-potential talent

  • Growth & Development

    • Build and run growth programs (e.g. tuition reimbursement, learning stipends, coaching pilots

    • Partner with team leads to support career clarity and mobility (leveraging Monarch’s defined ladders)

    • Track internal mobility trends and identify opportunities for development at scale

  • Manager Enablement

    • Own the Manager Foundations Series, focused on coaching, feedback, and prioritization

    • Create and curate ongoing enablement content (async guides, workshops, templates)

    • Partner with People Ops to ensure manager effectiveness is supported at key moments (e.g. promotions, new team formation)

  • Engagement, Culture & People Programs

    • Own quarterly engagement surveys (eNPS + pulse); drive action plans with teams

    • Help reinforce our remote-first, async-first culture through documentation, programs, and ongoing rituals

    • Build and scale AI enablement across teams — e.g. “How to use AI in your role” guides, AI tip-of-the-week, and async learning pilots

  • Employee Relations Management

    • Serve as a trusted partner for employees and managers on sensitive issues

    • Lead or support employee relations cases, investigations, and policy interpretation with empathy, discretion, and fairness

    • Partner with Legal and leadership to ensure compliance and uphold our cultural pillars in all moments

What You’ll Bring:

  • Have 5+ years of experience in a People role focused on L&D, HRBP, or people programs

  • Have built and run scalable manager training, development, or engagement programs

  • Are excited to work in a remote-first, async-first company where documentation, clarity, and autonomy matter

  • Are a clear, thoughtful communicator who can drive programs through influence, not hierarchy

  • Have a bias for shipping meaningful content to scale company culture

  • Experience within a high growth startup environment within the B2C/SAAS space

Nice to Have’s:

  • Experience in remote-first or async-first companies

  • Excitement about AI and how it supports productivity and learning

  • Are comfortable with tools like Lattice, Notion, Slack, Linear — or eager to learn

  • Competitive Benefit Plans for employees based on your location (e.g. in the US we offer: Medical, dental and vision benefits and the ability to contribute to a 401k plan).
