RBC Group Advantage is a comprehensive business segment that offers expert advice to business clients focused on retirement savings solutions for their employees including Group RRSP’s, Group TFSA’s, Deferred Profit Sharing Plans, and Pooled Retirement Pension Plans delivered in the convenience of the business owner’s workplace.

As an Enterprise leader you provide strategic direction and coaching focused on team contribution in, nurturing and growing relationships with sponsors. You are also a key influencer in the community, building RBC presence, expanding networks, and sourcing key business opportunities. Your passion in creating success for our “Sponsors” (commercial/corporate clients), employees, and communities is the cornerstone of success in this opportunity.  

The successful candidate may be located in Edmonton or Calgary and will be based out of their home office.

What will you do?

  • Manage a team consisting of relationship managers to maintain and grow existing retirement savings plans within Alberta and the Territories

  • Plan and execute practice management routines with team and RBC Partners ensuring the full team is accountable for deepening client relationships and fully supporting new clients to RBC

  • Coordinate the activation of new plan members

  • Drive superior client experience by monitoring the satisfaction of sponsors and establishing ongoing routines

  • Identify industry trends, regulations and competitive environment to ensure clients and are receiving advice tailored to their needs

  • Model, inspire and coach One RBC behaviors by sharing knowledge, building collaboration, trusting internal relationships

  • Champion the RBC Group Advantage value proposition with partners and in the external market

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Minimum of 4-7 years leadership experience in the financial industry with a proven track record of managing a high performing team focused attracting and growing client relationships

  • Proven application of business acquisition, establishing community and client relationships with success in business growth

  • Excellent relationship building skills both internally and externally to identify and implement strategies that drive business growth

  • Designation as a Retirement Plans Associate (RPA) and/or Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) through the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans or be willing to complete the necessary courses to achieve the RPA designation within 18 months of start date

  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time within the Region.

Nice-to-have

  • Highly developed PC and mobile literacy with demonstrated digital capability using Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Power point)

  • Experience creating a referral network and a current, extensive network of “centres of influence”

  • A post-secondary diploma/degree, ideally in Commerce, Business Administration or related experience is required

  • Experience in the group retirement and group pension space
