The Manager, Social Media & Influencer will work within the Marketing & Innovation team, oversee the Associate Manager, Social Media & Content, and report to the Group Creative Director. You will lead social media plans and strategy with a clear vision to increase awareness, engagement, education, and word of mouth. You will also lead the planning and execution of social campaigns, communications, and influencer activities.
This position is based out of (remote) Canada.
What you’ll be doing:
Own cultivating the social experience across our brands, leveraging storytelling, engaging content, and emerging digital tools, including generative AI for content ideation and production.
Develop and build strategic influencer programs (i.e. ambassador programs, creative deliveries, community building activities etc.) that ladder back to annual brand objectives
Create, implement, and maintain social content strategy across brands
Develop, maintain, and optimize monthly social media calendars for all platforms based on overall marketing calendars
Strategic execution and publishing of all social content including testing of frequency, timing and content type optimization (visual content, hashtag keywords, use of emojis etc.) to keep improving social performance
Lend actionable insights to monthly social and influencer reports by formulating unique recommendations and opportunities, based upon key learnings from weekly reports and monitoring of influencer marketing landscape
Utilize platform-specific and third-party social media tracking and analytics tools to monitor performance and adjust strategy accordingly
Develop copy/concepts and source media for social content on a regular basis
Draft social media briefs and lead briefing calls with external agency partners
Collaborate with the internal marketing team on the social and influencer strategy for national and regional marketing campaigns
Create opportunities to engage with our online audience in meaningful ways beyond our owned platforms
Track and record performance of spend against goals and budget
Stay on top of social media trends to look for opportunities that our brands can leverage and build on
Lead and contribute to creative brainstorming sessions with unique ideas for content production
Track emerging social platforms and manage launch strategy and execution as needed
Perform outreach activities, including developing and maintaining relationships with key influencers. Leverage those relationships and opportunities where appropriate.
Coach, develop, and direct the Associate Manager, Social Media & Content to support Social Media and Influencer objectives
You’ll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or similar and/or equivalent experience
Minimum 5 years' experience in social media management, community management, development, marketing, communication or similar
Familiarity with content management systems such as WordPress
Working knowledge of content and layout design tools such as Adobe InCopy and InDesign
Excellent computer skills with MS Office
Solid understanding of various content platforms such as social media, blogs, and print media
Working knowledge of content practices such as SEO, SMO, and PPC
A team player mentality, capable of partnering with internal teams such as Brand, Legal/Regulatory, and Customer service as well as external stakeholders in the social and influencer communities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Creative problem-solving skills to work around barriers and find solutions to campaign obstacles related to the Canadian cannabis industry
Passion for the industry, staying up to date on content, consumer trends, and advancements in technology — particularly AI tools that can unlock new ways of working and engaging audiences
Solid project management skills, comfortable working on and directing multiple simultaneous assignments while operating autonomously in fast-paced environment
