Position Overview:
The Sr. Merchandise Planning Manager is responsible for leading the ecommerce category sales planning which includes integrating merchandise, marketing, promotions, and site elements that lead to financial sales and margin plans that achieve our customer and financial goals. You will combine an understanding of retail best practices and digital sales drivers as well as an interest in enhancing the customer experience.
How will you make an impact?
This person will have demonstrated skill with developing annual and seasonal merchandise financial plans as well as forecasting capabilities. Additionally, they will be able to quickly analyze and synthesize data into actionable insights and present clear concise impact and results leading to recommendations for improvements. This position reports to the Director, Ecommerce Merchandise Planning and works closely with the Merchandising and Pricing and Promotion Teams, Brand and Marketing Planning, Demand Planning and FP&A.

Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Season
  • Define the methodology and develop an efficient and repeatable process for improved sales plan development and iterative daily/weekly sales forecasting.
  • Actively participate in building strategic financial plans that align with company goals.
  • Accurately forecast revenue and gross margin at the appropriate product level reflecting business trends and incorporating marketing, promotions and site drivers
  • Partner with the Merchandising team to incorporate product priorities into the financial plans and socialize with the broader team to drive business results.
In season (Run the Business)
  • Lead the development of reporting scorecards and databases that enables robust evaluation and improved sales planning as well as in-season opportunities and risks.
  • Take the lead on reporting category sales clearly presenting changes and drivers of trends while actively participating in identifying options for actions that improve results.
  • Independently analyze performance as well as direct additional analysis that provide insights and informs opportunities to improve financial results.
  • Develop data driven approach that can inform merchandise assortments to improve productivity.
  • Collaborate with the Pricing & Promotions team in analyzing past performance and make recommendations that drive additional revenue and profit for the company.

  • BA/BS required with a strong quantitative/analytical background.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in merchandising planning or business analysis for consumer brands.
  • Proven experience in SKU intensive merchandising forecasting – sales, margin and inventory implications driving growth linking key eCommerce and retail practices that impact results.
  • Analytical and process-oriented with an entrepreneurial mindset and high attention to detail, comfortable working with large data sets and making data-driven decisions.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills required; SAP IBP experience a plus
  • Proven experience in developing new methodologies, improving process, and creating effective business reports and visualization.
  • Partners well cross-functionally and seeks input and collaboration. Leads and builds consensus appropriately; indirectly influences.
  • Passionate about the customer with a strong interest in driving user engagement through digital retail practices.

The compensation package for this role is based on multiple factors, such as job level, responsibilities, location, and candidate experience. The base pay ranges included below are specific to the locations listed and may not be applicable to other locations.

California : [$134,750 - $190,750]
Connecticut, New York and Rhode Island: [$134,750 - $174,750]
Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota and Washington: [$134,750 - $161,750]
Nevada: [$126,750 - $174,750]
Maryland and New Jersey: [$145,500 - $174,750]
District of Columbia: [$159,000 - $190,750]
Hawaii and Vermont : [$126,750 – $152,000]
