Location: Points of Light is a remote-first organization. Any U.S. location in the Eastern or Central time zone in a market with a major airport.
The Manager of Corporate Partnerships will play a key role in supporting Points of Light’s corporate partnership strategy. They will work collaboratively across departments to help build and maintain relationships and secure funding from corporations and corporate foundations. This position supports the organization’s operational and programmatic growth, contributing to the success of the mission to ignite a new spirit of service and civic engagement across the world.
Primary responsibilities of the Corporate Partnership Manager include managing a small portfolio of assigned accounts and supporting the day-to-day function of the corporate partnerships team. The Manager will develop and execute partnership strategies, cultivate and steward corporate donors, negotiate sponsorship and grants, and monitor partner deliverables.
Position Functions and Responsibilities Include:
Relationship Management and Stewardship
- Relationship Management: Serve as the primary point of contact on assigned accounts. Identify and analyze client requirements, expectations, and challenges. Manage daily partner needs, activations, and fulfillment for partners, sponsors, and donors ensuring smooth execution and alignment with internal program teams.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with other teams (Corporate Programs, MarCom, Events and Convenings, Finance) to shepherd partner activities to completion.
- Reporting and Documentation: Maintain detailed records of partner interaction, agreements, and communications in Salesforce.
- Stakeholder Communication: Communicate clearly and proactively with internal and external stakeholders to uphold high standards and troubleshoot any challenges that arise.
- Proposal Development: Support proposal development for assigned portfolio and corporate partnerships team.
- Revenue Generation and Renewal: Manage a portfolio of existing accounts. Identify and close incremental and renewal revenue opportunities. Identify new and renewal business opportunities within the existing client base and promote additional offerings to existing clients to maximize revenue.
- Stewardship Strategy: Collaborate with corporate partnerships team to develop strategic stewardship touchpoints. Monitor news on key corporate partners, Board members, volunteers, prospects, nonprofit sector trends to identify touchpoint and conversation opportunities.
Prospect Identification, Research, and Briefing Preparation
- Prospect Research and Analysis: Identify and conduct research on corporate and corporate foundation donors, verifying biographical, financial, and philanthropic details to identify new fundraising opportunities.
- Partner Briefs: Prepare and maintain up-to-date briefs on partner relationships, priorities, and meetings.
Other Duties as Assigned
- Assist in the creation of corporate sponsorship packages and approaches for external marketing campaigns.
- Represent Points of Light at select philanthropic gatherings/events and stay informed of industry news, trends, and networking opportunities to establish new connections and create innovative and effective philanthropic partnerships.
- Promote a collegial atmosphere within the Development Department and other internal departments, working cooperatively with all fundraising staff to meet overall financial goals.
- Support the organization in achieving our annual revenue goal.
- Analytical and Strategic Skills: Proficiency in analytical and strategic thinking, with a focus on operational improvement and process optimization.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with an ability to engage, persuade, and manage high-level relationships.
- Organizational Skills: Proven ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines while managing multiple tasks in a detail-oriented manner.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency with MS Office and internet research, with a strong understanding of the best development practices, reporting standards, and research techniques. Strong preference for proficiency in Salesforce, Asana, and SharePoint, or the ability to quickly become proficient.
- Ethics and Discretion: Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
- Team Collaboration: Capable of working independently while also thriving in a collaborative team setting, demonstrating flexibility and sound judgment.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or education/experience equivalency.
- 2-5 years in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, with a strong background in project partner management and fundraising.
- Ability to travel, estimated 15%, and work some evenings and weekends to attend partner meetings, events, or activations.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives and a commitment to promoting equity in all aspects of the workplace.
