Job Purpose:
 

This position, under the direction of Finance Transaction Support management this position is responsible for the ongoing identification, reporting, analysis and resolution of variances between general ledger accounts and supporting detail. Responsibilities include monitoring financial data and identifying and resolving outstanding entries that account for 100% of variance between general ledger and supporting detail. This position is also responsible for corporate vendor administration program, fixed asset, unclaimed property, imputed income, processing financial data as needed for journal entry purposes, including journal entry creation, review and analysis, identification of variances and issue resolution and regulatory reporting

This position is responsible for assuring data quality and that appropriate internal controls related to corporate vendor administration, unclaimed property administration, fixed asset administration, internally developed software oversite, IRS regulatory reporting for 1099-Miscellaneous filings, imputed income, personal property tax filings, and sales/use tax filings, account reconciliations and journal entries are maintained. Develop and maintain department procedures and author and maintain department Business Recovery Plan. Coordinate collection and provide explanation of materials for audit reviews and regular status reporting to finance executives.

This position requires understanding of a wide variety of business processes and the ability to translate those processes into financial data (journal entries and account reconciliations). The position works closely with, other Finance Transaction Support staff, staff in other areas of Finance, and Business area representatives who have processes that impact the TruStage’s financial statements.

Job Responsibilities:

  • 40%: Reconciliation and journal entry issue investigation and resolution, this will require using independent judgment and working with the business areas, reconcilers and other members of Finance and Transaction Support. This includes providing process and issue resolution guidance to the (new 235 Positon Job Title) and Transaction Support Specialist. Application and interpretation of TruStage Accounting Policies, and various types of accounting books for the company, GAAP, STAT, TAX, STATE, AMT, and ACE.
  • 15%: Develop and test new interface processes for vendor and journal entry creation, work with business area customers and IT to define needs, test cases and implement process. Develop and maintain department procedures. (Vendor Admin, IDS, FAS, UPCS)
  • 10%: Analyze journal entry activity and investigate any issues discovered via trend or other analysis, work with customers to explain / resolve issues. Understand and assess business processes and internal controls related to the processing of journals. Develop and process journal entries, review and validate interface activity related to journal entries, review current journals and assist in the effort to automate or eliminate entries.
  • 10%: Review and approve vendor set up, regulatory reporting, journal entries, validate the need for and create standard processing and journals, manage interface activity related to transactions, journal entries, review current functional activities and actively work towards automation or elimination.
  • 10%: Lead projects, new processes, and annual IRS regulatory filings (1099-Misc. and B Notices). Liaison with Corporate Tax related to vendor IRS filing requirements.
  • Perform detailed general ledger account reconciliations including identification, reporting, analysis and resolution of variances between general ledger accounts and supporting detail. Understand and assess business processes and internal controls as they relate to transactional processing. Insure corporate unclaimed property compliance.
  • 10%: Manage vendor administration, various transactional software, manage functional risk exposure, policy compliance, application of company policies and procedures  for standard procedures, data imports, hierarchies and reporting for both internal and regulatory filings.
  • 5%: Contribute to department strategy development, initiative execution, personal development efforts, and special projects as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years progressively responsible work experience related to vendor administration, fixed asset accounting, accounts payable, reconciliation, journal entry, or financial data processing, with working knowledge of computer applications to include: general ledger, automated reconciliation, query tools (i.e., business objects), and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and expertise in understanding multiple business processes from a high level and detailed perspective as well as how each impacts our financial statements (GAAP, Statutory and Management).
  • Experience in understanding, identifying, and following internal controls.
  • Experience in leading others through projects, new processes or other similar efforts.
  • Demonstration of effective and independent, communication, analytical, issue resolution and decision making skills.

Base Salary Range:

$54,460.00 - $95,305.00
