The Finance Director is a senior leadership role within the U.S. Finance Department. This position is responsible for overseeing management reporting, driving strategic special projects, including finance system implementations, business acquisition due diligence and integration, providing high-level support for critical finance initiatives across the global organization and acting as the foremost US GAAP expert to assess the most difficult technical accounting matters and provide direction to local officers on global accounting policies. The role requires expertise in financial reporting, strong leadership in driving complex projects, and the ability to manage cross-functional teams to deliver on business objectives. The individual must be adept at dealing with uncertainty and thrive in situations that involve high-impact, time-sensitive matters that may be unfamiliar to them. This position also ensures compliance with income and sales taxes and contributes to the long-term growth and strategic vision of the Finance department.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Global Reporting Leadership: Lead the global management reporting team, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and compliance with U.S. GAAP. Oversee the preparation and consolidation of global financial reporting packages, and periodic financial reporting to senior management and the board of directors. Oversee the strategy and implementation of global reporting initiatives by working with local offices around the world.

Special Projects Oversight: Lead strategic, high-priority finance projects across the global organization. This includes, but is not limited to, M&A integration, finance system implementation, process optimization, and the introduction of new reporting tools or frameworks. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful execution of these initiatives within established timelines and budgets.

Financial Strategy and Analysis: In collaboration with the VP Global Finance, help shape the strategic direction for financial reporting and special projects. Provide actionable insights based on financial data to support business decisions and long-term strategy.

Process Improvement and Automation: Identify and drive continuous improvement in financial reporting processes, implementing new technologies or methodologies that enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of global financial reports.

Global Collaboration: Act as a liaison between global finance teams, ensuring effective communication and alignment on financial reporting needs. Facilitate the timely and accurate reporting of financial results from all global regions.

US GAAP Expert: Provide direction to global finance teams on the accounting for significant and unusual transactions as well as expert level knowledge of the application of FASB 606, Revenue Recognition, to new and emerging revenue streams.

Team Leadership and Development: Lead and develop a team of finance professionals, providing mentorship, training, and guidance. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performance within the team.

Regulatory Compliance: Support the Vice President, Global Finance, with evaluating, and addressing complex tax matters by performing research and coordinating with our in-house and external tax professionals.

Cross-functional Coordination: Work closely with other departments, including legal, operations, and IT, to ensure alignment of financial reporting processes with business objectives and technological needs.

Budget and Resource Management: Oversee the annual budget for the Global Reporting and Special Projects team, ensuring that resources are effectively allocated and that all financial objectives are met.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience leading financial reporting functions with complex global operations and driving strategic finance projects.
- Active CPA certification in good standing (California or equivalent).
- BA or BS in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent and relevant experience; graduate degree in accounting or finance preferred
- Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls over financial reporting.
- Demonstrated experience leading large-scale financial projects, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives concurrently in a fast-paced environment.
- Expertise in financial reporting tools and systems; advanced proficiency in Excel and other financial software.
- Strong leadership and people management skills with a track record of successfully developing high-performing teams.
- Effectively manage time to meet deadlines and work professionally under pressure.
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to think strategically and solve complex issues in innovative ways.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex financial concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
