Position Overview

Our In Market Custom Carpet Designers create innovative carpet design solutions through holistic knowledge of the project with key accounts in partnering with Account Managers in market on the West Coast.  The primary focus of this position is to service and support our sales team through direct connection with key clients to capture and interpret design briefs and execute collaborative product design.  This position can work remotely in assigned region.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with key hospitality clients to develop custom carpet solutions through a collaborative environment.
  • Responsible for taking designs from concept to full color product completion.
  • To research the market for new trends, and the ability to create patterns and color stories for specific markets.
  • Develop exceptional custom design by using Adobe Creative Suite and Nedgraphics.
  • Manage interface between Client, Sales, and Custom Design team members.
  • Must be able to identify a problem and implement innovative solutions with little to no assistance.
  • Develop and maintain both trend and product presentations.
  • Manage the design process to ensure that key dates/deliverables are met.
  • Conduct project meetings and conference calls with designers, architects and end users.
  • Coordinate pattern and color development as it relates to the full scope of the project
  • Understand the trend in design and color as it relates to each project.
  • Attend and participate in sales meetings and trade shows.
  • Ensure that design requirements meet manufacturing criteria.
  • Review design brief with regional Design Manager to ensure that all information is documented at the start of the project.
  • Stay abreast of competition and competitive information and keep management informed of any changes in market conditions.
  • Working with our sales managers in each area in understanding hospitality sales and their role in the process.

Requirements:

  • Four-year college degree OR High School Diploma/GED and 5+ years equivalent job-related experience in Textile Design or similar field.
  • Trained in color and design application.
  • Must have the ability to think creatively outside of conventional concepts.
  • Understanding of the basic concepts of carpet manufacturing.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills good time management skills - able to meet prescribed deadlines.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use Nedgraphics Texcelle and Adobe Creative Cloud Applications.
  • Understanding of carpet estimating and installation.
  • Ability to present and explain technical information in a way that establishes trust.
