As a Category Strategy Manager, you will be responsible for providing strategic category management, shopper insights, and analytical support for Walmart, Target, and internal stakeholders. You will be customer facing, working with our retailer partners, driving growth opportunities and influencing category decisions. This role reports to the Director Category Strategy in the Market, Strategy, and Planning organization.
Responsibilities
Deliver thought leadership using primary and secondary research, syndicated, panel and first party data to drive category growth at Walmart and Target
Build and maintain standalone relationships with key Walmart & Target stakeholders
Use syndicated, panel, first party data and custom research to develop selling stories for strategic initiative sell-in/defense and line reviews
Identify, proactively and on-going, retailer specific category opportunities surrounding distribution, pricing, shelving, merchandising, and shopper
Understand root cause of retailer’s category challenges and deliver compelling, fact-based, stories to address
Deliver post execution category & competitive analysis outlining key findings and recommended actions
Mine syndicated, panel, first party and shopper loyalty card data, as well as custom research to build category and shopper centric stories for internal and external meetings
Understand and apply best-practice category management process to drive category growth while achieving brand KPIs.
Work on a centralized team and support adhoc requests for other accounts as needed

Qualifications
Undergraduate degree or higher.
Minimum of eight years of Category Management experience
Advanced skills in MS Office, Syndicated/Panel (Circana/NielsenIQ/Numerator, etc.), Space Management (JDA/Prospace, etc.), and First Party Data (Luminate /Shopper Loyalty, etc.)
Deep knowledge of commercial strategies, consumer insights, category management, and market research
Validated ability to be curious, think strategically, and use varying data sources to build category, consumer and shopper stories that are both compelling and concise
Strong professional written & verbal communication skills: articulate and to the point
Strong presentation skills
Prior Walmart experience
Previous experience as a category advisor/captain is preferred
Ability to travel 20%-30%
