Job description

We are seeking amazing talent for our next Account Executive, Connect Cloud to join the Posit team! In this role you will engage with prospective customers to share and demonstrate cutting edge technologies in the rapidly growing Data Science field and pioneer our growth within the cloud space.

What You’ll Own
  • Be a key member of our fast-growing and high-performing sales team, building personal relationships and helping to shape the outbound motion to our new Connect Cloud offering.
  • Leverage your sales experience to communicate with potential clients to develop an interest in Posit’s professional software. 
  • Forecast sales activity and revenue achievement while creating satisfied and referenceable new customers. 
  • Work with Customer Success, MDRs and SDRs to drive current customer growth and generate new business opportunities. 
  • Keep up with industry trends, the competitive landscape, and customer needs. 

 

A Bit About You
  • You bring at least 4+ years of B2B software sales experience, with a proven track record of generating over 30 (outbound) new logos in a year.
  • You are a builder and collaborator at heart, comfortable with uncertainty. 
  • You have experience selling into SMB and mid-market segments, adept at shorter, more agile sales cycles without sacrificing strategic depth.
  • You excel at outbound sales, comfortable picking up the phone, sending targeted emails, and using creative outreach tactics to open doors and create pipeline.
  • You’ve managed multi-stakeholder deal cycles, and can translate technical offerings into clear business value for decision-makers across various levels.
  • You’re organized, adaptable, and thrive in high-velocity, sometimes ambiguous environments where priorities shift and entrepreneurial thinking is valued.
  • You are curious, continuously learning, and comfortable advocating best practices in analytics and data science, even if you’re not the technical expert.
  • You’re collaborative, humble, and communicate effectively, both internally across teams and externally with clients.
  • You’re self-motivated, reliable, and can function well in a distributed team environment.

Your First Year at Posit
Within 1 Month, You’ll…
  • Complete new hire orientation, gaining familiarity with Posit’s community, open-source roots, and new SaaS product.
  • Learn about the product and acquire the baseline knowledge you need to engage confidently with prospects.
  • Begin regular 1:1s with your manager and the product manager, meet with the broader sales team, and connect with some of the Posit executives.
  • Build your 30/60/90-day plan and start developing your annual success blueprint.
  • Shadow experienced Account Managers to understand talk tracks, best practices, and sales processes.
  • Start reaching out to assigned accounts and initial prospect lists, laying the groundwork for pipeline creation.

 

Within 3 Months, You’ll…
  • Confidently pitch Posit’s new SaaS offering to SMB and mid-market prospects.
  • Regularly meet with peers, your manager, and prospective customers to refine your talk track, improving conversion and discovery techniques.
  • Deepen your competitive understanding and become adept at articulating Posit’s unique value proposition against other industry players.
  • Master internal tools and streamline sales processes for efficiency.

 

Within 6 Months, You’ll…
  • Consistently meet or exceed your pipeline and booking targets, with strong outbound motion fueling growth.
  • Work autonomously on most aspects of your role—though help and mentorship are always available.
  • Execute on your annual plan milestones and refine strategies based on market feedback.

 

Within 12 Months, You’ll…
  • Be a trusted advisor to your customers and a subject-matter expert on Posit’s SaaS solution for the SMB and mid-market segments.
  • Earn recognition as a top-performing member of the Sales Team, consistently surpassing goals.
  • Mentor new Account Managers and share best practices on outbound sales, pipeline generation, and relationship management.

Individual pay decisions are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, and skillset. This hiring range includes variable compensation and assumes that the job will be performed in the United States.
