The Manager of Finance and Accounting is responsible for the financial operations of Otava. Its primary goal is to accurately and reliably record, report and analyze the financial information within the guidelines of generally accepted accounting principles (“GAAP”), applicable laws
Location: Ann Arbor, MI, Denver, CO, Indianapolis, IN
Work Location: Remote with occasional on-site days, 8AM - 5PM, Monday - Friday
Role Responsibilities
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Perform and review account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statements.
- Manage the preparation of statutory financial reports and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Support various tax reporting, including personal property tax and sales/use tax.
- Aid in continuous process improvement, including use of systems to create efficiencies and automation.
- Participate in FP&A activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Work to provide actionable insights for financial strategy and business growth.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies (GAAP/IFRS), and external audit requirements.
- Coordinate with auditors, tax consultants, and legal advisors to maintain compliance with tax and regulatory obligations.
- Mentor, train and guide professionals directly reporting to this role
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, driving efficiency in processes and systems
Experience
- Minimum of 3-6 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting roles.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and compliance requirements.
- Experience with FP&A, financial modeling, and business analytics – desirable
- Proficiency in financial systems (ERP software, advanced Excel skills).
- Experience in a recurring revenue business is a plus.
- Experience with month end closing, reconciliation, and reporting processes; other periodic financial reporting such as personal property tax and sales tax returns; purchase order control; annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting.

- Proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
