Role Summary

The Sr. Director - Transformation and Innovation will lead the organization in driving forward-looking initiatives that enhance operational excellence and foster innovation. This role combines strategic transformation leadership with the identification and implementation of cutting-edge solutions for the entire enterprise. The individual will be responsible for bridging the gap between current operations and future capabilities.

By developing an innovation roadmap, managing strategic transformation projects, and integrating advanced technologies, this role will position the company for sustainable growth and leadership in its industry.

Responsibilities

Innovation Leadership

  • Build and lead a team focused on discovering, researching, and integrating next-generation practices & solutions for a 3PL.
  • Design, develop, and implement innovative technologies, including automation, robotics, and AI systems.
  • Create and maintain an innovation roadmap aligned with organizational goals, ensuring projects are delivered from concept realization through design approval.
  • Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies (e.g., Warehouse Execution Systems, AGVs, robotics, AI, machine vision, augmented reality) to address business challenges, improve customer and associate experiences while creating value to the enterprise.
  • Run alpha and beta tests for new technologies, simulate automation solutions, and ensure edge case capability in designs.

Strategic Transformation Leadership

  • Collaborate with executive leadership to identify critical initiatives necessary to meet annual objectives and deliver the long-term plan.
  • Actively manage a portfolio of initiatives, tracking performance, mitigating risks, and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Lead and coordinate the delivery of large-scale, cross-functional transformation programs to achieve key business outcomes, creating holistic enterprise value.
  • Identify dependencies and develop contingency plans to address potential challenges in project delivery.
  • Partner with stakeholders across departments to ensure alignment and drive organizational change.

Leadership and Collaboration

  • Build strong relationships across functions, serving as a liaison between internal teams and external partners.
  • Inspire and lead teams to adopt lean principles, design of experiments, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Coach and develop direct reports to ensure productivity and quality objectives are consistently achieved.

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience in innovation, transformation or operations leadership
  • 8 years minimum in an innovation transformation and operational excellence role.
  • Proven track record of implementing large-scale transformation projects and innovative solutions.
  • Expertise in warehouse and fulfillment technologies, including automation and robotics.
  • Strong understanding of project portfolio management and KPIs.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, decision-making, and data analysis skills.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and drive collaboration across diverse teams.
  • Experience managing budgets and delivering projects within scope and timeline.
  • IMCP (Innovation Management Certified Professional), CIL (Certified Innovation Leader), LSS (Lean Six Sigma), and/or similar certifications are preferred.

Travel:

  • This position is remote.
  • 30% travel
