Role Description:
The Senior Manager, Principal HRBP is pivotal in supporting ShipBob’s India business operations and global People team. This role acts as a leader, manager, mentor, and contributor, ensuring the alignment of People team strategies with business priorities. The position leverages relational skills, business insight, and HRBP expertise to influence meaningful results. It steps in as an action-oriented problem-solver, showcasing opportunities and driving a growth mindset across SBI’s strategic leadership group, motivating others to achieve results.
HRBPs are a member of their business unit's collaborative group. Partnering with them on critical thinking and strategic matters. This role acts as an advisor and trusted confident for proactive planning, and, in limited circumstances, high-risk, complex people matter. The HRBP is the driving influence that keeps their business unit’s priorities connected to the People team, to plan, develop and deploy critical capabilities supporting positive business outcomes.
The role requires flexibility for a hybrid shift till 12 pm CST, as required to support business groups that operate in CST hours.
This role reports to the Senior Director, People Strategy & Operations.
What you’ll do:
- Critical Projects/Opportunities:
- Partnering with core leadership on India’s workforce plans – Talent reviews, scenario planning, staffing plans, performance assessments, etc.
- Foster stronger connections between the People team Centers of Excellence and the challenges we need to address within the organization.
- Develop a team success plan to ensure that the members of the People Strategy & Operations team in India are clear about their role expectations, have the necessary resources to succeed, understand their accountabilities, and have defined measures of success.
- Collaborates, Plans, & Aligns: Assess and sets the vision for ShipBob India’s People Strategy & Operations objectives, in collaboration with People team leadership/management, People team COEs and the business, harnessing buy-in/alignment.
- Develops Talent: Monitors the performance of their direct reports (Sr. HRBPs and People Experience Manager); teaches, coaches, guides, directs, and develops where necessary.
- Builds Effective Teams: Responsible for the effectiveness, deliverables, and outcomes of ShipBob India’s Sr. HRBPs and People Experience Manager.
- Manages Ambiguity: Initiates solving problems or finding new solutions for India’s broader workforce needs, and for opportunities that exist globally with international working dynamics.
- Builds Relationships & Trust: Builds trusting relationships with management and leadership, extending thought leadership to bridge gaps between organizational OKRs and people plans/capabilities.
- Business Acumen: Maintains thorough awareness of their designated business units/ client groups’ goals, while leveraging curiosity and business acumen to contribute to successfully meeting their goals.
- Organizational Analysis & Design: Partners with the business to create comprehensive workforce plans and organizational design, while identifying human capital business needs and counseling management/leadership on the root cause, no matter how complex.
- Creative Problem Solver: Bring design thinking and new ideas to the table and proactively create solutions through collaboration and partnership.
- Problem Solving: Surface and identify business unit and organizational health trends through data collection, research and analysis.
- Investigates & Mitigates Risk: Supports the global ER/Compliance Manager and Employee Experience Manager with employee investigations and provides intervention or resolution where necessary.
- Organizational Link: Acts as a change agent, project and program manager, and communicates People team initiatives and other business priorities and goals.
- Holds the Presiding Officer seat on the POSH Committee.
- Other duties/responsibilities as necessary.
What you’ll bring to the table:
- A bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years of experience with most of the career background coming from HR Business Partnerships and HR Leadership (people management), providing guidance/direction to global business leaders in a fast-growing organization where there has been proven positive outcomes.
- Established ability to utilize HR technology - HRIS, ATS, engagement, and performance platforms and understands CRM platforms with a track record of quickly turning data into action.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and taking part in complex strategy discussions. Your point of view is valuable, and you share it with both confidence, conviction, and humility.
