Position Summary

Employment Specialist provides direct vocational assessment, job development, and job coaching services to participants. The Employment Specialist will participate in identifying needed support to overcome barriers to employment. The foundation of all activities will focus on individual recovery through meaningful community participation, contribution, and membership. 


 This role is community based and expected to work out in the community most of the time however some work from home is possible if not meeting with individuals or needed in the office. 

 

Essential Duties and Functions

  • Providing job support to working program participants 
  • Identify and respond to the needs of the consumers in achieving efficient responses to requests and to eliminate barriers limiting productivity in day-to-day activities 
  • Engage individuals in a trusting and supportive relationship, providing emotional support within professional boundaries 
  • Provide Supported Employment insight and goals with the individual, for updated ISP based upon the specific needs of the individual, with the aim of maximizing physical, emotional and mental health.
  • Assist the individual to reach the goals identified in the ISP.  
  • Provide emergency on-call coverage in rotation with other team members as needed
  • Provide all forms of job finding and support for individuals pursuing self-employment, as well as traditional jobs 
  • Complete all documentation in a timely manner.  

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Service, Health or Vocational/Rehabilitation field preferred. High School Diploma required.
  • 2 years’ previous work experience in vocational employment services for behavioral health or IDD populations required.  
  • Knowledge of community resources, experience in consumer advocacy, and the capability of participation in a team format is essential.  
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

 

Working conditions

This position is set in an office environment as well as out in the community while supporting program participants. While performing the duties of the job, employees are frequently required to stand, walk, lift, and reach. Position requires travel throughout the community supported by the program.
