At Guild, we uphold our Core Values in everything we do. Our team emphasizes our Core Values in the following ways:
- Nurture A Learner’s Mindset - using a combination of feedback and reflection to gain productive insight into personal strengths and development areas
- Build Shared Success - building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives
- Be an Owner - holding self and others accountable to meet commitments
- Create Belonging - recognizing the value that different perspectives and cultures bring to our company
As the Senior Vice President (SVP) of Product Management, you will spearhead the strategic direction and execution of Guild’s product portfolio, ensuring alignment with our mission to reshape education and upskilling in order to empower the world’s frontline workforce.
Reporting to the Chief Product and Technology Officer, you will lead a cross-functional product management, product design, and product operations team, to define and deliver innovation, operational excellence, and ultimately market leadership and human impact.
Why might you want to do this?
- You thrive on the sweaty palms that come with your decisions materially impacting our trajectory and outcomes - for Guild, and for the people whose lives we are committed to changing. You don’t just want to be a part of it - you want to actively shape it.
- You embrace the opportunity that comes with ambiguity, and you relish the challenge of discovering the best path forward, every day
- You love being challenged and pushed, and challenging and pushing others, in pursuit of the best outcomes
What you will critically be responsible and accountable for:
- Strategic Leadership
- Develop and continuously refine a comprehensive product vision and strategy, and drive execution against it
- Establish and operate against an aligned set of KPI’s and Leading Indicators measuring product and business performance
- Serve as a key member of the Product Leadership Team in the CPTO organization, as well as the broader Guild Extended Leadership team, engaging with cross functional executive leadership, the Board of Directors, and other key leadership forums.
- Team Development
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing product management, design, and operations team
- Create the product operating model that enables a high velocity of learning, efficient decision making, and high impact execution
- Develop senior leaders in the team to enable long term growth and scale
- Product Portfolio Management
- Lead our transition into a multi-product organization
- Customer and Market Expertise
- Ensure that you and your team become experts on our current and future potential market and customers
What you will unequivocally bring to the table:
- Product Leadership
- 15+ years of product management experience showing growth in leadership remit
- Meaningful experience of leadership spanning multiple product lines showing both product/business growth and development of a cohesive product story
- Demonstrated development of senior product leaders
- Data Fluency
- You dream in metrics and outcomes, and can articulate how you will lead an organization to operate that way
- Product Marketing and GTM Acumen
- A recognition that the success of any product is dependent on how you tell the story and take it to market.
- A deep understanding, likely borne out of hands on experience, of what that entails and looks like
- Business Acumen
- P&L fluency. You’ve likely GM’ed before, and if not, can demonstrate an understanding of how a P&L and a business operates, and an ability to drive product success in alignment with business needs and outcomes.
- Comfort with discomfort and ambiguity
- You’ve seen ups and downs, and you’ve lived and led through change and transformation.
- You know how to maintain equanimity while never letting up on the push for better and more.
- Domain Expertise
- Actually, we’re not concerned about this. If you’re great at what you do, you’ll pick this up. We’d prefer that you don’t already have established answers to everything.
What the strongest candidates will also have:
- Technical and Operational Competency
- The broader your experience, the better. You will need to hold your own with all functions across the organization, and direct skills go a long way.
- Experience as an IC and/or leader of Engineering and Operations is a huge positive.
- Ability to go broad and deep
- Your ability to context switch orthogonally will stand you in good stead. As we evolve in a multi product environment, you need to be able to seamlessly operate across them all. However, we are still small enough that you need to be able to go deep with a PM and Engineering team when appropriate, and need to be able to identify when that might be.
