As the Senior Underwriting Consultant, you will play a key role in shaping the future of our organization within the dynamic landscape of group benefits. In this role, you will bring your underwriting expertise to refine our AI agent for group benefit quoting, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and ensure alignment with industry best practices and compliance standards. Your deep understanding of group benefits products and processes and your strategic insight will drive impactful advancements in our quote intake product. *Please note: This is a 10 to 20 hours per week part time position.

What You'll Do
  • Collaborate within Ushur to demystify group benefits underwriting across various product lines, providing insights into what quote specialists look for in renewal documents, and claim experiences, and identifying key/critical data elements of interest
  • Act as the underwriting subject matter expert (SME) on the AI Labs team for the Group Benefits Quoting AI Agent related to underwriting
  • Provide domain-specific guidance to help refine and enhance product features, ensuring they align with industry best practices and underwriter needs
  • Define and implement analytics strategies around various data points of interest (plan design elements, census demographics data, broker/group information) that can drive efficiencies and provide key insights for our customers
  • Explore customization strategies of our solution pack for various insurance LOBs (Group Life, Disability, Voluntary, and Ancillary benefits)
  • Support the Industry team in analyzing group benefits underwriting market trends, competitor offerings, and industry developments to identify strategic opportunities
  • Work closely with the Industry team and existing clients to understand evolving needs and ensure the continuous alignment of our Group Benefits Underwriting services with client objectives
  • Implement strategies to enhance client satisfaction and foster long-term partnerships
  • Support the Industry team in staying abreast of Group Benefits underwriting industry best practices and emerging trends to inform the development of innovative solutions

  • What You Bring
  • 8-10 years of experience in group benefits underwriting consulting, with deep knowledge of quoting, plan design, census data, and rating engine workflows
  • In-depth understanding of group benefits, insurance products, and trends in the benefits consultancy industry
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with clients and internal teams
  • Strong analytical skills for market research, financial analysis, and strategy formulation
  • Creative and innovative mindset to develop cutting-edge solutions and strategies
  • Previous experience in a consulting role or collaborating with technology teams is a plus
