South College is inviting applications for the position of Adjunct Faculty Member for the Medical Assisting and Medical Office Administration programs at the Lonas campus in Knoxville, TN. This role involves teaching online asynchronous courses. These specific Medical Assisting courses will be fully remote. The ideal candidate will be innovative and utilize diverse instructional methods to effectively engage students with different learning styles." 


At a minimum, the essential functions of this position shall include:

  • Effectively conducts online lectures, laboratory sessions, and/or clinical courses as required. 
  • Assists in implementing College policies, objectives, and functions in accordance with South College’s philosophy.
  • Keeps students informed of their progress by promptly grading assignments, projects, skill assessments, competency evaluations/mastery of competencies in the clinical lab, and other tasks.
  • Facilitates student connections with relevant campus and community resources.
  • Aids in registration, recruitment, and retention efforts, ensuring thorough management of all required tasks.
  • Supports the program director with accreditation-related tasks such as accreditation reports, self-studies, and site visits when requested.
     

Requirements:

  • A minimum requirement includes holding a satisfactory bachelor's degree in the relevant discipline and possessing a certified license in Medical Assisting.
  • Understanding of educational theory and techniques.
  • Prior experience instructing in any medical assisting program and/or working as a medical assistant.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing technology for instructional purposes.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Dedication to fostering student achievement and fostering an inclusive learning atmosphere.
  • Preference will be given to those with a proven record of excellence in teaching at the postsecondary or higher education level. Candidates should have either foundational or advanced knowledge in anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, medical assisting/nursing, phlebotomy skills, pharmacology, diseases of the body, office administration, and medical law and ethics.
  • Experience in LMS (Canvas, Blackboard, D2L, etc.).
