As Nexford’s HR Generalist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth functioning of our global HR operations. This role encompasses the full HR spectrum – spanning policy development, compliance, recruitment, talent management, and employee relations – while supporting strategic projects and day-to-day operations. With your extensive international HR experience, you will drive initiatives that uphold Nexford’s innovative culture, ensure compliance across regions, and enable the HR team to deliver exceptional support to the organization.
A Day in the Life of an HR Generalist Lead ☀️
☀️ Morning: Begin the day by reviewing challenging recruitment cases or pending employee relations matters. Then review and approve critical communications drafted by the People Operations Manager to ensure clarity, accuracy, and professionalism.
🕛 Midday: Conduct a one-on-one with part-time recruiters to evaluate hiring priorities and provide strategic guidance on filling hard-to-source roles across multiple regions (UK, US, EMEA, Philippines, and India). Then review payroll inputs submitted by the People Operations Manager, identifying gaps or inaccuracies and make corrective actions where necessary.
🌤️ Afternoon: Proactively outreach to candidates to help fill an urgent marketing role based in the US. Then work in a new employee engagement iniviative and submit to COO for review prior to scheduled launch.
🌙 Evening: Wrap up the day with a debrief session with the COO and People Operations Manager, prioritizing actions for the next week. Finalize a weekly update for the COO, summarizing HR metrics, risks, and progress on strategic initiatives. Reflect on any operational gaps observed during the day and outline improvement plans for the team’s execution.
Key Responsibilities 🎯
- Act as the lead for all HR operations, providing direct support on recruitment, employee relations cases, capability reviews, and performance discussions.
- Approve payroll submissions, HR reports, and compliance documents to ensure accuracy and alignment with local employment laws across multiple geographies.
- Attend disciplinary hearings, grievance meetings, and capability reviews as the senior HR representative to safeguard procedural fairness and compliance.
- Drive workforce planning initiatives, ensuring headcount, succession planning, and recruitment strategies align with business needs and growth goals.
- Mentor and help manage other HR team members addressing skills gaps and providing ongoing coaching to improve operational efficiency.
- Review and refine engagement and onboarding initiatives, using feedback and survey data to implement improvements that drive retention and satisfaction.
- Manage escalations for high-risk employee relations or policy issues, ensuring swift resolution and alignment with Nexford’s cultural values and legal standards.
- Serve as the key liaison to the COO, providing regular updates on HR metrics, project progress, and critical risks across the People function.
Skills and Qualifications 🌟
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an accredited HR certification such as CIPD Level 5+, SHRM-SCP, or PHR/SPHR.
- Experience working in a startup environment, demonstrating adaptability and the ability to build scalable HR functions in high-growth settings (non-negotiable).
- Minimum of 5 years HR experience with at least 1 year managing a remote team, experience must include working with team members across multiple geographies – that is essential
- Proven expertise in managing complex employee relations cases, grievances, and high-risk disciplinary actions.
- Extensive knowledge of global employment laws and compliance standards, with demonstrated experience in contractor versus permanent workforce management.
- Hands-on experience overseeing payroll, benefits administration, and HR data management, with advanced proficiency in HRIS platforms like BambooHR.
- Proven ability to design and execute impactful employee engagement strategies, including managing content calendars and wellbeing initiatives to transform morale in underperforming or disengaged environments.
- Strong leadership and coaching skills with a proven ability to mentor and develop HR teams in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
- Proficiency in leveraging AI tools to streamline HR operations, boost productivity, and support data-driven decision-making daily.
