Job description

Our Why

Datacom works with organisations and communities across Australia and New Zealand to make a difference in people’s lives and help organisations use the power of tech to innovate and grow.

About the Role (your why)

As Portfolio Manager, you will be part of the Account Leadership Team for one of our largest Sydney Accounts. You will manage the delivery of a collection of project outcomes to support the priorities of the Accounts and the Customers.

Your primary focus is a single point of contact for all components relating to governance of Programs and Projects within your customer accounts. You will be responsible for managing the correct focus and execution of Programs and Projects that are focused on executing the right work to the benefit of the customer or capability area within Datacom. You are responsible for governing the pipeline, effective use of resourcing, ensuring proper change control, overall financial management and risk and issue management across the portfolio.

What you’ll do

At the moment as Portfolio Manager you will be focused on:

  • Coordinate multiple streams or projects to represent a single view of the portfolio including high level status (RAG), financials and dependencies
  • Maintain the Portfolio RAID Log which tracks Risks, Actions, Issues and Decisions and ensure that this is socialised with the customer through regular status reporting and escalated to the Datacom executive as required
  • Be responsible for the overall Portfolio Budget within a Customer or Service Capability
  • Be responsible for the prioritization criteria used to accept Program and Projects into the Portfolio
  • Facilitate the prioritisation of Program and Projects in the Portfolio, aligned to the customer roadmap, contract and Datacom objectives
  • Manage the governance of Risk within the portfolio
  • Be involved in the development of the scope of work and project effort estimates for delivery ensuring consideration for dependencies across the portfolio
  • Ensure project delivery is aligned with Datacom Project Lifecycle (DPL)
  • Provide leadership for the Portfolio team, particularly in relation to scope, quality and schedule of Projects and Programs, but also ensuring that appropriate technical leadership is available as required
  • Capacity and Capability Management, addressing the need to identify, allocate and optimise resources for maximising utilisation and avoiding resource conflict and constraints in the delivery of the portfolio.

We are a pretty agile company, and are keen to respond to customer, technology and internal stakeholders’ changing requirements and this can mean we evolve in our roles to meet those needs.

What you’ll bring

This is a senior leadership role, and we are looking for someone with extensive project management experience from within an IT service provider. Ideally you will have prior program or portfolio management exposure. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of large-scale government programs; exceptional scope, quality, and financial management skills; and the ability to manage and resolve complex issues. You will be passionate about delivering successful projects, able to negotiate a win-win solution for all parties and possess outstanding stakeholder management skills.

Why join us here at Datacom?

It's our people that give Datacom its unique culture and energy that you can feel from the moment you meet with us.

We care about our people and provide a range of perks such as social events, chill-out spaces, remote working, flexi-hours and professional development courses to name a few. You’ll have the opportunity to learn, develop your career, connect and bring your true self to work. You will be recognised and valued for your contributions and be able to do your work in a collegial, flat-structured environment.

We operate at the forefront of technology to help Australia and New Zealand’s largest enterprise organisations explore possibilities and solve their greatest challenges, so you will never run out of interesting new challenges and opportunities.
