SUMMARY:

We are growing and need compassionate, motivated Customer Service Agents with medical billing experience to join our team. As a Medical Billing Specialist, you will handle both inbound and outbound calls, serving as the first point of contact for patients that want to pay their bill, or have billing questions while also reaching out to patients with overdue invoices. This is a phone-based role that requires a strong customer service background, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate sensitive financial discussions.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • WFH requires a quiet distraction-free workspace to handle sensitive patient calls professionally.
  • Handle 60+ calls daily, including answering inbound calls from patients paying bills or seeking clarification about invoices, copays, or deductibles.
  • Make outbound calls to patients regarding overdue payments, setting up payment plans, or resolving billing concerns.
  • Use electronic medical records (EMR) systems to review patient account data, past invoices, and insurance information to provide accurate and helpful responses.
  • Clearly explain financial responsibilities, including insurance details, to patients and provide education on billing policies.
  • Secure payments and establish payment plans during both inbound and outbound interactions.
  • Document all patient interactions thoroughly and accurately in compliance with HIPAA and company policies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve complex billing issues when needed.
Requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  1. High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  2. 2+ years' experience in medical billing, collections, or a related healthcare setting (such as CNA, HHA, or medical coding)
  3. Proven ability to handle high call volumes in a call center or phone-based customer service environment
  4. Proficiency in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems
  5. Exceptional problem-solving abilities
  6. A passion for service
  7. Full understanding of health insurance process regarding copays, deductibles


PREFERRED EDUCATION, SKILLS AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  1. Bilingual in Spanish and English is highly desirable

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This job is 100% remote/ work from home.

This is primarily a sedentary position, spending most of the workday sitting at a desk in an office setting. Specific vision abilities required by this job include both close and distance

vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
