It is an exciting time to work in Saudi Arabia; through Vision 2030, the rate of social and industrial change is staggering.

We are looking for an innovative Developer Experience Staff Engineer to enhance developer productivity and security across our engineering organization. In this role, you will lead initiatives to create streamlined workflows, improve tooling, and embed robust security practices into the development lifecycle. Your work will empower developers to build, deploy, and manage software efficiently and securely, driving both velocity and quality.

Requirements

Productivity

  • Tooling and Automation: Design and implement developer tools, CI/CD pipelines, and automation frameworks to eliminate bottlenecks in the development process.
  • Developer Workflows: Optimize end-to-end workflows, from code creation to deployment, ensuring consistency, speed, and reliability.
  • Collaboration: Act as a bridge between engineering teams to identify pain points, gather feedback, and deliver tailored solutions that enhance the developer experience.
  • Metrics and Insights: Establish and monitor productivity metrics to track improvements, identify issues, and guide future investments in developer experience.

Security

  • Secure Development Practices: Integrate security tools and practices into the development lifecycle, including static analysis, dependency checks, and runtime security validation.
  • Secure CI/CD Pipelines: Implement guardrails to prevent misconfigurations and vulnerabilities during builds, tests, and deployments.
  • Developer Education: Provide training and resources to empower developers to write secure code and adopt security-first mindsets.
  • Policy Enforcement: Collaborate with the security team to ensure compliance with organizational security standards and policies.

General

  • Innovation: Evaluate emerging technologies and methodologies to improve developer experience and security posture continuously.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain thorough documentation for tools, processes, and security best practices.
  • Mentorship: Guide and mentor developers and engineers on productivity and security improvements.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years of experience in software development, DevOps, or developer productivity roles.
  • Proven experience designing and optimizing developer tools and workflows in modern development environments.
  • Strong expertise in CI/CD systems (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD).
  • Proficiency in one or more programming/scripting languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Go).
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform or Pulumi.
  • Familiarity with modern security practices, including OWASP, SAST, and DAST.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes).
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with developer experience platforms (e.g., Backstage, DX frameworks).
  • Experience in securing microservices and distributed systems.
  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001) as they relate to developer practices.
  • Demonstrated success driving culture change to improve productivity and security.
