Job Description

Embark on an exciting career as an Estimator/Draftsperson in the dynamic field of mechanical contracting. In this role, you’ll be at the intersection of technical expertise and project management, utilizing state-of-the-art estimating software to bring commercial plumbing and HVAC projects to life. You’ll have the unique opportunity to see projects through from initial concept to final implementation, working with a variety of stakeholders including vendors, architects, and our skilled operations team. Responsibilities
  • Analyze and interpret complex mechanical plumbing and HVAC drawings, translating technical specifications into actionable project plans
  • Master specialized estimating software to create precise, competitive cost projections for commercial projects
  • Meticulously trace over plans within the software, selecting optimal materials from pre-populated palettes to ensure accuracy and efficiency
  • Perform detailed calculations of labor hours and material requirements, contributing to project budgeting and resource allocation
  • Spearhead the submittal process, liaising with vendors to secure necessary documentation for won projects
  • Craft comprehensive submittal packages for architect approval, ensuring all project components meet required specifications and standards
  • Develop “sold packages” for the operations team, providing them with clear, actionable information to kickstart the installation process
  • Collaborate across departments to streamline project workflows and enhance overall efficiency
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and technological advancements to continually improve estimation and drafting processes
Requirements
  • Demonstrated understanding of mechanical plumbing and HVAC systems, with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Strong aptitude for learning new software, with a particular focus on specialized estimating and drafting tools
  • Meticulous attention to detail, especially when working with complex plans and specifications
  • Basic comprehension of labor and material calculations within the construction industry
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including experience with server-based software systems
  • Excellent organizational abilities, crucial for managing multiple project components simultaneously
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with team members, vendors, and clients
  • Ability to work full-time (35+ hours per week) and adapt to changing project demands
  • Eagerness to learn and grow within the role, with potential to take on additional responsibilities over time
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred but not required for candidates with relevant experience
