Job Title: Senior Analyst, Economic Research

Location: California / Arizona / Remote | Full-time

Position Summary:
The Senior Analyst, Economic Research will play a critical role on the Zonda Economics team, contributing to the published research and content creation efforts focused on the homebuilding industry. This role is responsible for updating and enhancing recurring research report content, contributing to the creation of new housing market research and analysis, and maintaining the quality and relevance of our published work. The Senior Analyst will also contribute to the improvement of research processes, ensuring they are efficient, accurate, and impactful. This position involves collaboration across the team to produce high-quality insights into housing market trends for internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Report Maintenance and Updates
    • Manage and update existing recurring research reports focusing on the housing and homebuilding industry to ensure relevance and accuracy. This work is both data and analysis heavy.
    • Maintain regular updates for housing and economic market reports, for metro areas and regions throughout the country.
    • Incorporate new housing and economic data, market trends, and insights into ongoing research deliverables in collaboration with analysts. 
  • Content Development and Collaboration
    • Support the Chief Economist and Executive Director with creating published research reports and content, focusing on actionable insights for clients and clear storytelling.
    • Collaborate with leadership to identify key housing and economic trends and emerging topics for publication.
    • Transform complex data into clear, concise reports and summaries, delivering meaningful insights to clients.
  • Process Oversight and Improvement
    • Coordinate the research process, including data collection, analysis, design, and report generation.
    • Identify opportunities to streamline research workflows, leverage automation, and adopt best practices.
    • Review and provide constructive feedback on work produced by peers to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Project and Workflow Management
    • Drive the day-to-day management of recurring research projects, including deadline adherence.
    • Maintain consistency and accuracy across multiple reports and deliverables.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, business, statistics, or a related field. Advanced degree is a plus.
  • Experience in the housing or real estate industry is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
  • Adept at using Excel to solve complex data problems. Must be able to extract, clean, and analyze data to inform strategic decisions. Python or knowledge of other big data tools a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite; experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on clear storytelling.
  • Experience with recurring research processes and maintaining large datasets.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively.
