Let’s talk about you

The Senior Software Engineer is part of our "Empower" team. The Empower team supports customer-facing portals and mobile apps that enable customers to self-serve and interact with account management, service ordering, and payments.

To be successful you will possess:

  • An unequivocal commitment to the Aussie values and using them to make decisions.

  • 3-5 years commercial PHP experience using a modern MVC framework.

  • Exceptional understanding of web technologies (HTML5/CSS3/JavaScript).

  • Good knowledge of databases, including schema design & query optimisation.

  • Experience with creating and consuming modern APIs.

  • VCS (git) experience.

  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodology.

  • Ability to design and implement complex software solutions.

  • CI/CD experience highly regarded.

  • Laravel experience highly regarded.

  • PHP Unit experience highly regarded.

As our Senior Software Engineer, you'll be involved with the following activities and outcomes:

  • Building end-to-end solutions across a variety of channels (e.g., internal tools and apps, customer-facing websites, and apps), utilising industry best practices and leveraging the latest technologies where possible.

  • Automating business processes.

  • Working closely with stakeholders, taking part in all stages of the software development life cycle.

  • Solving interesting performance and architectural challenges.

  • Writing clean, maintainable code, following best practices and adhering to coding standards.

  • Working on special projects as directed by the Software Engineering Manager.

  • Providing mentoring to junior members of the team.

  • Participating in sprints/iterations.

  • Performing code reviews.
