Description

The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for formulating/defining specifications for complex operating software programming applications or modifies/maintains complex existing applications using engineering releases and utilities. The Senior Software Engineer designs, codes, tests, debugs, and documents those programs. The Senior Software Engineer assists all phases of software systems programming applications and evaluates new and existing software products.


This role offers a flexible work arrangement, primarily remote with the understanding that occasional on-site presence may be required to support client needs.


Summary of Major Job Functions

  • Non-technical activities: Support the Project Manager and Business Analyst with keeping the technical roadmap and backlog updated.
  • Technical activities: The Senior Software Engineer will lead the development of new cloud-native applications, with a particular focus on leveraging AWS services and tools. This includes architecting scalable, resilient, and secure applications tailored for cloud environments. The engineer will utilize cloud-native technologies such as serverless computing and orchestration tools to deliver high-performance, cost-efficient solutions.
  • The role requires development experience in Node.js and Angular, along with expertise in optimizing application performance, seamlessly integrating with AWS services, and maintaining alignment with best practices in DevOps, continuous integration, and continuous delivery (CI/CD). Additionally, the Senior Software Engineer will ensure that applications adhere to security, compliance, and reliability standards, driving innovation and efficiency throughout the development lifecycle.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead team of developers to design and architect software applications.
  • Perform analysis on work done to-date by another team and determine best path forward.
  • Design, develop, test, and integrate custom applications, and develop innovative scalable, secure enterprise custom applications.
  • Interface with senior-level customer management and SMEs.
  • Resolve complex design, implementation and/or performance issues.
  • Work with the DOT Security Team to ensure that developed solutions meet all security requirements.
  • Support all development and delivery activities, from requirements definition and specification to deployment and delivery to production.
  • Consult with project teams and end users to identify new requirements and areas for improvement.
  • Assist in identification and evaluation of new/emerging technologies, COTS products, development and testing tools.
  • Support and respond to customer/user inquiries.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related field), or substitute six years of equivalent work experience.
  • At least five (5) years of experience as a full-stack Software Engineer
  • Proficient with Angular, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and AWS

Desired Skills & Qualifications 

  • Developing, implementing, and managing CI/CD Pipeline.
  • Experience developing customer-facing applications.
  • Experience with Release Management
  • Experience with UI/UX
  • Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD)
  • Previous federal government project experience a plus

  • The salary for this position is $120,000 - $160,000 annually
