Location

This role can be remote OR hybrid. If hybrid, you may split between working remotely and working onsite from either our San Francisco, New York, or Seattle offices, 2-3 days a week as required by your manager.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of infrastructure solutions that ensure scalability, reliability, and efficiency to support our growing customer base.
  • Define architectural standards and best practices for critical infrastructure components, ensuring high engineering standards across the organization.
  • Continuously monitor and enhance existing infrastructure to improve performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Implement and advocate for best practices in system design, performance optimization, testing, and security measures to protect organizational data and systems.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to engineering team members, fostering an environment that encourages learning and growth.

What We Look For

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing highly available, scalable, and high-performance backend systems.
  • 8+ years managing AWS infrastructure with deep technical expertise.
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience operating Kubernetes in production environments.
  • Proven success in designing and operating cloud-native networking solutions, including managing service meshes like Istio.
  • Experience managing both SQL and NoSQL databases, such as MySQL Aurora, Redis, and DynamoDB.
  • Proficient in Terraform and/or other Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools, including writing and maintaining reusable modules, implementing best practices for code organization and versioning, and automating the provisioning and management of scalable infrastructure
  • Familiar with chaos engineering principles and experienced in implementing robust disaster recovery strategies.
  • Proficient in creating declarative, self-service infrastructure platforms that enable engineers to seamlessly provision, scale, and monitor resources.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex infrastructure challenges.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Relevant certifications such as CKA, AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Professional)
  • Track record of managing mission-critical, 24x7 production software systems
