We are seeking a skilled and business-oriented Legal Counsel to support our growing operations in Europe with a focus on the Benelux region (Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg). Reporting to the European Technology Legal Director, you will play a key role in providing high-quality legal advice, ensuring regulatory compliance, and managing commercial contracts. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, cross-border environment, collaborating with business leaders and legal professionals across Europe.

The role is flexible in location, with a preference for candidates based in Belgium, Netherlands, or France. Frequent travel within the Benelux region and occasional travel across Europe is expected.

Role Overview

Commercial Contracts:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including vendor, supplier, and SaaS contracts.
  • Provide risk management advice related to contract execution.

Compliance and Legal Advice:

  • Ensure the organization complies with regional and international regulations, including GDPR and competition law.
  • Uphold the company’s compliance and ethics policies, ensuring alignment with corporate governance standards.
  • Act as a trusted legal advisor to internal stakeholders, delivering business-oriented legal solutions.

Cross-Border Collaboration:

  • Work closely with legal leaders and cross-functional teams, including finance and leadership, to address regional legal challenges.
  • Foster collaboration across jurisdictions to streamline legal operations and improve efficiency.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Support negotiations with internal and external stakeholders, translating complex legal concepts into clear, actionable guidance.
  • Partner with leadership to execute on strategic business opportunities.

Process Improvement:

  • Drive innovation in legal operations by implementing modern, efficient practice.

Experience and Traits

  • Education: Law degree in Belgian or Dutch law.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in legal roles.
  • Leadership capabilities.
  • Proven experience in negotiations with internal and external stakeholders concerning legal matters, including the ability to communicate technical legal matters in a non-technical way.
  • Industry Expertise: Experience in the security, technology, or related industries is an advantage.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Environment: Experience of navigating a fast-paced, international corporate and working with and in matrixed organisation
