What You Will Do

The Manager, Quality Assurance and Test Automation is responsible for managing the resources of the QA team and ensuring proper QA methodologies are being executed by the team. The individual will work with the project teams to estimate QA effort on planned projects. The manager will be responsible for executing the divisional business plan as well as managing the day-to-day aspects including resource allocation to projects, software configuration, release management and monitoring progress on each initiative. This role will provide leadership to the staff by ensuring all problems and issues are resolved timely and effectively.

Other responsibilities include staying abreast of testing technology advancements with a focus on automation, coaching/mentoring of the team and providing performance feedback via annual performance reviews.

How You’ll Make an Impact

Project Resource Allocation: Work closely with direct reports, application development and management peers to proactively manage resource pool to meet business expectations.

  • Ensure adequate and appropriate resources are available to deliver on company mandated initiatives

  • Deliverables are met on time with a focus on quality and accountability

  • Works with the Development team to evaluate unit test quality

  • Works with Product owners on acceptance criteria as well as refining requirements for testing and product specialists to provide meaningful evaluations of product quality with respect to test coverage of functionality, client workflows and data

Quality Assurance Testing

  • Promote excellence in QA testing by implementing Automation

  • Ensure testing processes follow our SDLC process

  • Apply subject matter expertise to identify opportunities for continuous automation of testing

  • Monitoring the progress of projects by tracking activity, resolving issues, and recommending actions

  • Provide regular updates on deliverable timelines and project status to senior management and project management

  • Establish quality metrics and measures for tests executed

  • Establish the use of Zephyr and enforce its usage by all those who test

  • Encourage the use of test automation and load/performance tools as part of the teams testing coverage

  • Review QA Analyst test plans to ensure proper test strategies and risk mitigation elements

  • Create a test repository, working with other QA teams at Fidelity to adopt best practices

  • Drive the overall quality strategy in planning and execution in a department

Partnership across the organization- Build effective relationships with business and Technology partners to attain a proactive approach to solutions and design.

  • Creation of a value add, friendly work environment where partnerships and trust between Quality Assurance analysts, software development, the business and other Technology groups flourish

  • Encouragement of team collaboration

  • Serve as a liaison between IT and business team

  • Identify opportunities to increase productivity and efficiency

  • Deliver quality customer service interactions to our internal and external customers to create a positive experience

  • Take ownership of solving a customer’s problem promptly; use all available resources to achieve the best outcome

People management

  • Ensure all testing is completed on various environments, test cases are produced and saved in the test case management system

  • Monitoring QA automation suite after every QA release and investigation on issues

  • Ensure team receives the training on the skills and knowledge to proficiently perform the role

  • Understand limitations and challenges and work around these to achieve best results

  • Regularly coaches and provides feedback to help individuals meet their goals

What We’re Looking For:

  • University degree (Bachelor’s Degree) or equivalent work experience

  • 5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance & Testing ( Manual and Automation )

  • 3+years leading teams preferably with demonstrated coaching, training and mentoring skills

  • ISTQB Certification

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in Financial Services industry, (Wealth Management, Banking or Capital Markets)

  • ISTQB Test Manager Certification

Skills and Knowledge

  • Excellent Communication skills both written and oral; ability to effectively communicate technical material to non-technical users

  • Knowledge of SDLC, DEV Ops, Continuous Integration tools and Agile software delivery

  • Knowledge of Atlassian suite, JIRA, Confluence

  • Knowledge of Katalon, Postman, Selenium

  • Organized self-starter, with a customer service focus and ability to manage a team and complex tasks

  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral; ability to effectively communicate

  • Technical material to non-technical users

  • Strong technical insight and experience to inform, guide, challenge and support technical decisions

  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and innovative problem -solving abilities

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently while being in a team environment

  • Strong technical aptitude and able to adapt to new technologies quickly

  • Ability to quickly learn, adapt and change to meet the needs of a changing environment

  • Excellent problem - solving skills

  • Customer service oriented

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment without direct supervision
