Job description

Role: Reporting to the Executive Director, the Fundraising Coordinator will play a critical role in the success of Bladder Cancer Canada's (BCC) fundraising campaigns through the planning and coordination of fundraising deliverables, and day-of execution of the event.  

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Create and execute strategies to achieve objectives set for fundraising initiatives and targeted campaigns including, but not limited to, research and general donations, major gifts, securities donations, gifts from foundations, planned giving, Holiday Appeal, and Giving Tuesday.
  • Build BCC’s donor base through the stages of qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
  • Coordinate and execute strategies to meet third-party fundraising targets, including working with the Communications Department to promote third-party fundraising.
  • Identify prospective corporate and foundation funding opportunities including research into national corporations and their national and community foundations.
  • Identify and implement new opportunities to diversify BCC’s revenue sources.
  • Research, draft, and submit grant and sponsorship applications to generate revenue through national and local sponsorships and grant funding for BCC programs, events and initiatives, and support the completion of expected deliverables.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Department to actively promote and grow all BCC fundraising campaigns and initiatives, including the development of a year-round digital fundraising campaign.
  • Work with the Communications Department to create and implement all graphics, design direction, and materials for fundraising campaigns and initiatives.
  • Provide weekly progress reports to the Executive Director, and in weekly staff meetings.
  • Enter accurate donation, donor and participant data and produce regular donation reports, statistics, and charts as requested.
  • Issue charitable donation receipts for tax purposes, as needed. 
  • Act as a liaison between BCC, fundraising volunteers, and community members. 
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and funding contacts.
  • Steward prospects, donors, and volunteers appropriately as needed.
  • Provide support to the National Administration Manager regarding grant applications and fundraising reporting, as required.
  • Provide support to the Executive Director regarding sponsors and funding partners, as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications and Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Fundraising, Nonprofit Leadership, or related field. 
  • Relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience writing effective correspondence, reports, proposals, grant applications, and other print collateral.
  • Strong computer and technical skills including knowledge of CRM systems or donor databases is preferred.
  • English-French bilingual candidates preferred. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of donor and stakeholder audiences. 
  • Experience working for a health charity or non-profit and with volunteers would be an asset. 
  • Some evening and weekend work required to attend events and meetings. 
  • Occasional national travel may be required. 

 

Note:A police background check must be completed as condition of employment. 

 

Location: 

This position will be based out of your home office.  The suitable candidate will ideally be located in the Eastern Time Zone in order to easily collaborate with other staff, and must be legally entitled to work in Canada. Work is expected to be completed during normal business hours; however, occasional evenings and weekends may be required for BCC events. 

 

Compensation: 

A permanent, full-time position of 37.5 hours/week beginning January 6, 2025. Salary of $48,000 per annum, with benefits package including health, dental and EAP available after probationary period, and 3 weeks of vacation per calendar year, pro-rated to start date Work is expected to be completed during standard business hours; however, occasional evenings and weekends may be required for BCC events.
