As an Employment Lawyer you will provide expert legal counsel on employment-related matters, ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations, and supporting our dynamic and innovative workforce.
Key ResponsibilitiesLegal Counsel:Provide expert legal advice and support on all aspects of employment law, including hiring, performance management, disciplinary actions, terminations, and employee relationsAdvise on compliance with federal, state, local employment and international (through liaising with outside counsel) laws and regulationsAbility to handle and prioritize many matters, including at times responding urgently to contractual work and their associated negotiationsContracts and Agreements:Draft, review, and negotiate employment contracts, severance agreements, non-compete agreements, and other employment-related documentsEnsure that all employment agreements align with company policies and legal requirements across multiple entities and jurisdictions, including internationallyManage and maintain company’s employment agreement template library for use by the recruiting teamProvide legal counsel on new employment policies and assist in drafting these new policies and revising employee handbooks periodicallyRisk Management:Identify potential legal risks related to employment practices and develop strategies to mitigate those risksMonitor changes in employment law and update company practices accordinglyCollaboration:Work closely with HR, management, and other departments to address employment law issues and support business objectivesProvide guidance on employee benefits, compensation, and other HR-related mattersLiaise closely with the recruiting team during the offer process and negotiations with candidatesPolicy Development and Implementation:Develop, review, and update company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with employment laws and best practicesImplement policies related to equal employment opportunity, harassment prevention, and workplace safetyDispute Resolution:Manage and resolve employment-related disputes, including internal investigations, performance improvement plans, etc.Represent the company in employment-related claims, if anyTraining and Education:Conduct training sessions for managers and employees on employment law issues, company policies, and best practicesDevelop educational materials and resources to promote legal compliance and foster a positive work environmentQualificationsJuris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law schoolAdmission to the bar in the relevant stateMinimum of 5 years of experience in employment law, preferably within the financial services or technology sectorsIn-depth knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations, in particular California and New York, international experience in the UK is a plusProven experience in handling employment litigation and dispute resolutionStrong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage multiple projects and work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environmentHigh ethical standards and professional integrityThe base salary for this position is $200,000 in the location(s) of this posting. Individual salaries are determined through a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography. Base salary does not include other forms of total compensation such as bonus compensation and other benefits. Our benefits package includes medical, dental and vision coverage, life and AD&D insurance, 20 days of paid time off, 9 sick days, and a 401(k) plan with a company match.
