You have experience leading and contributing to cloud native applications that are highly reliable and resilient You have a passion for mentoring and guiding other developers along their journey. The Principal Software Engineer role will focus on the technical processes related to software development and will assist in managing the overall vision, roadmap, and implementation of new software systems. This role will work as a team member with Business Stakeholders, Software Engineers, Quality Assurance Engineers, and Solutions Architects to deliver a complete solution for the business.


This position will report to the Director of Software Engineering and Architecture within the department.


Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall application architecture of your team. 

  • Work closely with other architects throughout the organization (Solution, Domain, Enterprise)

  • Spend at least 20 percent of your time dedicated to documenting and diagramming solutions.

  • Contributes to the application codebase and is responsible for establishing and guiding best practices.

  • Lead standards and best practices for engineering excellence, and support collaboration with other engineering teams.

  • Regularly conducts code reviews and ensures architectural patterns are being followed.

  • Will collaborate with management, architects, product owners, stakeholders, software developers, and quality analysts to bring projects into Production

  • Will assist in creating and maintaining application roadmaps that maintain the integrity and performance of our systems and satisfies the business need for fast value delivery

  • Will partner with peers to improve strategy, quality, and governance of our systems

  • Will analyze and solve performance problems, Improving application reliability and responsiveness

  • Will communicate ideas, issues, status, and outcomes with teams and managers

  • Will influence and present strategic options to  ensure needed outcomes and solutions

  • Will create  technical documentation

  • Lead, coach, and train other developers to create a positive work culture 

  • Lead the establishment of best practices

Requirements

  • 10+ Years of experience in a Software Developer role or similar role

    • 5+ Years of experience .Net and/or .Net Core

  • Understanding of design principles, threading, real-time processing, and SQL Server DB queries and performance tuning

  • Demonstrated experience in coaching, building developer teams, and ensuring standards are aligned with best practices. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail

  • Experience developing in a cloud environment (Azure, GCP, AWS)

  • Microservices/restful API

  • Database experience (SQL, NoSQL)

Preferred Experience/Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science

  • Cloud-native development experience

  • Experience with containers and Kubernetes

  • Azure or GCP cloud experience

  • Experience with front-end automation testing frameworks like Playwright

  • Working with remote teams (onshore, nearshore, offshore)
